I like this place quite a bit. I went there this past Father's Day with my family. We spent a good two and a half to three hours of walking around to all of the exhibits. The exhibits were will maintain from what I can tell the grounds were very clean. I only have a handful of complaints one some of them aviary AIDS and it's the animals did not look exactly 100% healthy. That bothered me a bit. The food was slightly overpriced. And unless you have some kind of discount or coupon I feel that the price of admission is a bit high. Just remember that if you were a member of EBT WIC or both you do get a discount on admission. For large families like mine that is crucial to being able to have a good day out. I think my favorite was actually the nocturnal exhibit it is where the animals were most active and got right up close to the glass and you could really see them clearly up close in person. If you go that is a must-see! The petting zoo was a little bit lackluster. Every staff member that I talk to you while I was there for the most part was young and enthusiastic and really seemed to enjoy their job. Which makes the experience all that much better. I think this is a great place to take families as long as you don't have a really young kids two and under I found that my 1-year-old got bored very quickly. Online highly recommend for single people or families. They have something for almost...
Read moreThis was a really cool zoo. I really enjoyed the trails that took you through the forest that had little placards that explain different critters you might come across naturally. My son and I could have spent much more time here if it hadn't been for how hungry we were after all the walking we'd done.
Definitely get the season passes. You're going to get your money's worth coming here and visiting often. I especially can't wait to see the new exhibits as I've heard that there's a new visitor that is going to call the Superior Lake Zoo home.
My favorite creature was the snow leopard. She looked to be stressed with the construction that was going on and seemed to be very tired. However, it's my first time seeing a Snow Leopard in real life so it was so amazing.
I've also never seen a red panda in person either, so it was really cool to see and interact with the red panda. They were very active and going in and out of their little hideout.
We got to see the brown bear up really close as he was walking toward the glass, so it was really neat to see how large they are in person.
My son's favorite was the otters. We came at just the right time. FEEDING TIME. So we got a really cool show from the otters playing and chasing after their food.
We must've just really had good timing because we also got to see all of the primates and lemurs when it was...
Read moreMy daughter (1 years old) and I went here the other day again. It was the WORST EXPERIENCE all because of a staff member named Dylan. He humiliated us, accused us of not paying, kept laughing at us, and almost kicked us out. WE ARE MEMBER'S, THANKS TO MY FATHER BUYING US THE MEMBERSHIP, I BELIEVE BACK IN APRIL. Any other time we have gone we've never seen this guy there before, and have always had the best time visiting the Zoo. He was impossible to talk to and extremely sarcastic! My baby was sitting in her stroller, with her little sunglasses on ready to go see all her favorite animals. This guy stopped us at the elevator and caused a huge scene! When I asked to speak with his supervisor, he turned his head to the side then looked at me laughing and said, "yes that's me how can I help you" he repeatedly did the same thing when I asked to speak to his manager, someone, anyone other then him, above him. HE MADE ME FEEL DISCRIMINATED AGAINST FOR BEING THE ONLY NATIVE AMERICANS THERE. I have since tried to contact Duluth Parks to make a report with no return phone call. I'm not sure we're going to even return there again at this point, hopefully someone can help resolve this issue and see to it that it never happens...
