Singing River Tours — Attraction in Dunnellon

We recently took our family of 17 on a tour with Singing River Tours, and it was a phenomenal experience that delighted every single one of us! With ages ranging from 10 to 80, finding an activity that keeps everyone entertained can be a challenge, but this tour exceeded all our expectations.

Captain Jon Semmes created a magical atmosphere with his live music, fascinating stories, and deep knowledge of the area’s history and wildlife. The kids were thrilled to spot turtles, birds, and even an alligator, while the adults enjoyed learning about the unique ecosystem and history of the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers. Our older family members appreciated the relaxing pace of the tour and the comfortable, accessible boat.

This pontoon boat tour was great. The guide and singer, Mr. Jon Semmes, has a vast knowledge of the two rivers we boated on, the Withlacoochee and the Rainbow. We were on the boat for about 1 hour 30 min. The singing came in the last 30 min. when the driver brings the boat to a stop and Mr. Jon then regales us with his original songs about Florida and the creatures amongst the wilderness. Mr. Jon is very eco-centered and you will learn much about the ecology of the area along with some history. The Rainbow River is a spring fed river so it is pristine. Therefore, the rules are not to take "anything with you that cannot be eaten." In other words, no plastic or food wrappings. Keep the river in its pristine state.
