First Baptist Church Atlanta — Attraction in Dunwoody

if you like Christianity to blend with politic, this church is your good fit, because anything with Christianity does not blend with politic; and if you like to be conservative, this church is your good fit, because I prefer people in churches behave like families like hugging, but this church only allows the couples to do, so I feel that I disagree with their rule! If you would like to get enough care from church like a family, this church is not a good fit!

I joined the church as a choir member back in September, but I did not take serious consideration of their culture and the rules. Back last December, after I was scheduled to have a conversation with worship pastor Matthew Slemp and the HR people before the choir Rehearsal, this nightmare happened! I hope the conversation can make me feel encouraged but they take a pause for me to attend the choir which makes me feel offended! After that, I realized How disgusting Pastor Matthew Slemp is! My Christmas was ruined by him after that! Even though they use Romans 8:28!

I never know the former pastor before, but I heard the former pastor was better than the current one!

And this church is not a good fit for single people who wanted to be physically closer to others. because single people need more support from the church!

Unless you are very mentally strong! Please try any church which allows you share your opinions freely such as Dunwoody Baptist Church or Buckhead Church! I hope to give below zero star to this church to remind the most disgusting worship Pastor Matthew Slemp! Especially I prefer to give worship pastor Matthew Slemp who leaded the singing 5 stars below zero (-5) for everyone’s reference, shamed on pastor Matthew Slemp all the time, he is the worthless! Dr. Charles Stanley was the instrument God used to lead me away from a lifetime of Roman Catholicism to knowledge of the true Triune God of the Bible. I attended FBA regularly for several years pre-pandemic, but more recent visits have shown me that much has changed, and not for the good. I once shared the confidence Dr. Stanley placed in Dr. Anthony George to be his chosen successor. He, like Dr. Stanley, is a deeply gifted and knowledgeable expositor of Scripture. But, since he assumed full control of the Pastorate, he has become aggressively and nakedly partisan to the point of being toxic.

Dr. Stanley devoted his life to spreading the truth of the Gospel globally, and the Holy Spirit "filled the house" whenever he preached at FBA. But, helping free the lost from spiritual bondage is apparently not enough of a mission for Dr. George. He just can't help himself from demonizing democrats, walking off a cliff with Donald Trump, and recently using his pulpit to prop up a hypocritical stooge like Herschel Walker.

Jesus's earthly ministry was never about purifying political discourse or ensuring that only "the right people" hold office. And that was never what Charles Stanley was about either! I wonder if Dr. George has any idea how much Satan has cleverly stymied the talent and opportunity God has given him to both "grow the kingdom" and carry on the tremendous legacy of his predecessor. I pray that the scales will one day fall from his eyes, and that he comes to understand that no one goes to church to hear an evangelical version of Tucker Carlson, but rather to find Christ and...

I loved my visit to this church,I have been studying with Dr.Stanley for 20 yrs or more while in Calif. I so enjoy pastor Stanley style of teaching/ preaching, I am from Pasadena Calif moved here 6 yrs ago after losing my husband of almost 17 yrs unexpectedly, I miss him still but God gave me his comfort and peace to keep smiling and living. I was diagnosed with Cancer in my back a Lymphoma since coming here, I am an LPN couldn't get work here although I came prepared with a Ga license. I guess looking at my age,I was slightly age discriminated.I like the fact Dr Stanley doesn't deviate from the word of God and what God says in the bible.Dr. Stanley is a God fearing man,and I got the chance to listen and see him in person.I met some wonderful people while at the church. I am looking forward to going to the church again and actually meeting Dr Stanley in person and just maybe a photo, I live in Stone Mountain and I don't have a car, I took a Lyft the first time and I hope to keep coming back if I can find a way,don't have Lyft money all the time and I miss attending church,hearing the word.My sister also studies with Dr. Stanley in Ca, she still is excited and can't believe,I made it to the church.
