I am a broken hearted spouse of a husband with Chronic Lyme Disease. When I found this practice there was a glimmer of hope that someone or even a group of compassionate healthcare staff would take the time to help. That was absolutely NOT the case. I was able to secure an appointment for him because my husband's PCP was released from the UNC system in the county where we live. Duke Integrative Medicine cancelled his appointment the day before because 1. His PCP did not refer him 2. They only work with patients that have a PCP already guiding their care - they just make recommendations 3. Based on my husband's medical history and interventions he has already received, they would not be able to help any further. They stressed to us that because we did not live in the area, he would not be able to benefit from their "membership services". My husband struggles with constant chronic joint and nerve pain, migraines, severe anxiety, depression and fatigue beyond anyone's belief. We have struggled for 8 years and have visited over 45 doctors trying to find answers. To be so easily pushed away from a DUKE facility is maddening. There is NO compassion, NO understanding, NO time taken to give a chronic Lyme patient a simple consultation and maybe a referral to someone else in the system. Unbelievable. I am an Occupational Therapist of 20+years and would NEVER treat a patient like this. This practice seems to be a glorified spa with a medical doctor advertising for it. They want a caseload of healthy people with simplistic diagnoses that are willing to pay for memberships in the vicinity. We are beyond...
Read moreFirst of all I would like to personally thank Dr Rodriquez for her professionalism- patience & kindness shown to me during my recent visits x2. I feel she was able to grasp my complex issues fairly quickly- she followed up With labs drawn after the first visit with the results and her recommendations even though they are visible in the Duke my chart- this was my 4th visit to this location- years ago my family gifted a visit when there was a bookstore - lunch and other amenities- even though some of the amenities have changed I feel this practice is well worth the investment- options for a la cart services like yoga & other a la cart amenities available. This location is situated off I 85 & other major routes- near the corner of Moreene & Erwin road a mile or so from the main Duke North Hospital Systems on Erwin Road & nearby Medicine Circle. It’s now obscured from a lot of greenery and shrubbery but once you turn into the winding paved path way - the location is a beautifully crafted building remindful of the older Duke bricks and newer bricks building.Uniquely designed - there is a drop off entrance for accessibility with automatic door openers. The reception team members & Nurse equally friendly and knowledgeable. Nice comfortable seating available. In house lab. I shall look forward to utilizing more of these facilities in...
Read moreI was deeply disappointed in my experience at Duke Integrative Medicine. They did not make it a priority to help me with my health needs, nor assist me as a team to reach my health goals, as they profess to do. The front desk staff was preoccupied when I attempt to sign in for appts., and sometimes rude.
When I tried to discuss difficulties with management, it was poorly handled; in fact, I was threatened once that security would be called if I stayed and continued to try to discuss problems. I then received a certified letter from the director, Dr. Blackford, informing me that I had to sign a "behavioral agreement" if I should be willing to come in and meet with her over the Christmas holiday, and that I was forbidden to make future appts. unless I signed it.
There are some gifted health practitioners who work there, but for me, they did not make up for the unfriendliness and strangeness of the place as a whole. If you are looking for kindness, respect, and individualized health care, then I do not recommend D.I.M. ...
