I'm sure Tom is knowledgeable, based on the fact that he told me 3 times he has a Masters Degree from Penn State, and 20 years of experience. I don't know that he's knowledgeable when it comes to attracting a new lifelong customer.
I knew going here I would pay above Amazon prices, you always do in a small retail store. In this case, approx $30 over internet price for the 2 products pictured. The tradeoff is you get some one on one time with someone who knows the product, the field, and will spend some time dispensing knowledge. Not here. The only advice: Your hydroponic water needs to be below 65F. His exact words "I'm not here to argue with you, or theorize what else it could be, just get the temperature lower". Didn't care to listen to the specific scenario or find out about the plants, just repeat to me ad nauseum his Botany degree and experience.....unless I wanted to pay $60 an hour for consultation. I get it, if I had walked in, not wanted to buy anything and just get info, charge me $60/hour. I walk in and drop 25% over Amazon (or any other online retailer, including Hydroponic specific sites) price on product...that IS your consulting fee. That's how retail works.
I already paid more than I needed to in the hopes I could get some useful knowledge, I came to you with genuine questions, you literally talked to me like I'm a moron.
Prior to this, I had bought my setup from PA Hydro in York Springs, PA. Night and day difference in the demeanor of the owners.

Read moreshopped around the local hydro stores in the area and finally stumbled upon these guys a few months back and hands down thee best!!! we couldn't have been more relieved to experience their quality service and knowledge. they know what they're talking about and are more then happy to share and answer questions. it can be overwhelming starting a new garden with all the science and different opinions out there but these guys truly LOVE what they do which makes the vibe that much better and guide beginners on the path that works, then expand with more tips and tricks from there.
