CTown Supermarkets — Attraction in East Hartford

Prices are OUTRAGEOUS, I don’t understand how a market like this survives in a low income area. Very little English is spoken and if you’re not Hispanic you don’t get treated the same. All that is nothing compared to their frozen food section, OMG! Almost everything is completely freezer burned, they’re way overstocked in that department, the ppl who shop there regularly don’t buy the frozen foods. We bought a box of mozzarella sticks and every single one was green with mold! And that’s supposedly been in the freezer! Anytime we bought ice cream it was so freezer burned it had lost all taste. We bought frozen chicken wings that were chunks of ice and tasted awful once heated up. I guess if you only buy their fruits and veggies and their meat, which is reasonable, that’s ok, everything else, outrageously overpriced! Big Y is cheaper than them! I highly suggest not shopping here. I’ve thought about reporting them to the better business bureau for selling foods that could make ppl sick. I still just might. 0...

I don’t recommend going here only thing good is the hot food I’m 8 months pregnant and I eat a lot so when I need me a hot plate I go here . However every time I come to this store I am constantly genderized and I am constantly called a man . I’ve also encountered one of the hiring managers talking out loud about me saying to his other employees how I asked him for a job application and he told me no but how does he look if he hired me when I’m a man and he has all women working at the cash register.

This supermarket is very clean and well organized. Their pricing on all items is good. But the prices they charge for meat and seafood is excellent. The meat, seafood and other items are very very fresh and the quality is excellent. They carry a variety of ethnic foods for those who are are of African, African American, West Indian, Hispanic, Portuguese, Italian heritage. They have a wonderful hot foods bar which serves great dishes during lunch time and throughout the day. They also sell lottery tickets and they cater parties and other events.
