Superior Grocers — Attraction in East Los Angeles

⚠️ HORRIFIC INCIDENT AT SUPERIOR GROCERS – MY CHILD SAW EVERYTHING ⚠️

I never imagined a routine grocery trip would turn into a nightmare.I witnessed a security guard wrestling a woman outside Superior Grocers. After overpowering her and taking her bag, he PEPPER SPRAYED her—point blank. It was violent, terrifying, and completely out of control.

My child saw the entire thing. We were frozen. No one stepped in. No one stopped it.

This wasn’t “security.” It was brutality. Families shop here. Children walk these aisles. If this is how Superior Grocers handles conflict, then we are all at risk.

I've been in the area since it's been renamed from top value, to numero uno, and now they're branding as superior. They've remodeled somewhat, and it looks slightly better. Unfortunately the food has gotten ridiculously expensive and the produce quality is alright. Most of the time, it's not ripe or overripe. And on multiple occasions I've tried to pay with wic and they've told me that it doesn't cover some of their produce, even though the signage says wic eligible and I've had funds, which can be embarrassing for someone that can't pay cash. I always go to this store and I feel like the store does needs some work in the meat department. The machines they use are kinda old and don't fully sealed shut thus allow small openings. The fruit and vegetables department is okay the only thing that makes me unhappy is that some items are priced well. Up until recently they were giving out gloves to every person that enter the store and everyone needs to wear a mask to enter as well.
