This isn't by any means a 'top casino' for Illinoisans to visit. I remember back when I was young, when it first came to the area (and used to actually cruise the river in those days!)- people LOVED the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino. It was fancy, had 5 star dining, and was a really nice place overall.
Recently, after moving back to the Peoria area from Chicago, where I'd spent the last decade, I'd decided to visit the Par-A-Dice, and try my luck.
The parking lot was not full at all, so I had no trouble getting a close spot. When I walked onto the boat, I could see why. It was nearly empty. And then as I looked around a little more closely, I noticed how dirty and dingy it was in there now, including the staff. I spent a lot of time at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois, when I lived up north, and I guess that place had my expectations set too high. The staff was always sharply dressed, clean cut, smiling, and overall looked happy to be there. I can't say the same for the Par-A-Dice though.
The slots aren't the loosest I've played, and I can't speak for the table games, but those are better odds anyway.
In terms of dining, they have a steakhouse, William B's I believe, but I have not tried it yet. The Tin Lizard is their casual dining, sit down restaurant, and I've ordered from there twice. One time was great, the next not so much. The reason I was disappointed on my second visit was due to the fact that I was trying to use a meal credit that I had, according to the Boyds App. Once the waitress took my order, I sat and waited for about 10 minutes, and when the waitress came back by, I asked her if I could take care of the check, and handed her my players club card. She came back a couple minutes later, saying that it wasn't pulling up the credit. I showed her on the app, from my account, and she acted like she didn't know what to do about it. So then she got her supervisor, who was not only aloof about the whole thing, but arrogant and standoffish to me as well. He claimed that "if the computer didn't pull it up, then it's not there, and there's nothing (he) could do about it." I would have to come back and speak to someone in players services, when they were open. I asked him if this happened often, and he said, "Oh yes!". I couldn't believe that he didn't even care, bother to apologize, or anything. He even went so far as to turn around and walk away from me, once he was 'done' with me! By this point, the food that I'd ordered was done, I was hungry and looking forward to it, so I had to yell across the restaurant at the supervisor to get him to come back so I could pay for my food and leave. That experience was one of the worst I'd ever had in terms of customer service, especially from a so-called 'Supervisor'.
The bonuses, free play, and promotions that this casino offers aren't that good anyway, so for them to offer them, and then not follow through on what they say they've given to you, well that's just garbage, and I can give away my money at any number of gambling parlor locations around town, and not have to worry about being treated that way. And I will, next time. When I've got the itch, it won't be to return...
Read moreThe room was pretty and the tub was amazing. Unfortunately there was a loud banging noise coming from the heating system that happened every hour and sometimes it switched up and did it on the half hour. Staff knew about this issue yet & still books these rooms without mentioning it to guests!!!! I went down at 430am to complain and was not offered another room or Maintenance because they said "We knew about the issues but only receive few complaints, so we still book these rooms" how is that acceptable??? They offered nothing because I went through a 3rd party. The attendant only told me to come back when the supervisor is there in the morning. So I recorded the noises to show the manager. The manager did not help either. She was however polite but offered nothing and stated the same the previous lady said. So I asked for corporate. That's when things got weird. Another lady came out from the back to say the same thing the others said..."very few ppl complain" ok so what do you do for those that have the inconvenience of your loud heating system? She was quiet. Again I asked for corporate. She gives me a fax #. I called infront of her. So they then give me another # that didn't seem right either. So I Googled their parent company and told them about this situation... Guys it was just an awful situation and now dealing with customer service on the issues is proving to be even worse. That's one of the bogus #s they gave me below and here are the recorded noises as well. Unfortunately I would not recommend you stay here. But hey you may get lucky and get "one of the good rooms"...good luck I took only 3 names. Nicole (secretary at corporate), Melissa and Stacy. Update: I keep uploading the video of the loud noises from the heating system and some how the videos are being muted!?!! It's not muted in my folder... I'll reload again, but companies can and do edit comments...
Read moreWe love the paradise, and all the friends we've met there, But we need better winnings, its been ages sense we won. Which we question weather to go there now. Also more choices on machines, slots, they need to put older machines on top floor, newer machine in the 2nd floor, and Move Gambling tables off of main floor, people cant hear, because of all the noise, the need to redesign the whole Boat. Plus, we loved that we could get meals there, and the convenience of the card valation on the main floor. We do not like have to go to basement. Your Deli hotdogs were changed, we like the bigger dogs, what a cut back. Your drawings should be in the hotel, and speakers should be put in the casino so people gambling could hear the drawings. + tvs instead of taking up all the chairs in the front. Or use the Buffet area for drawing night, so people could sit down quietly, and talk to each other. Its to crazy in lobby. Maybe a snack in buffet while drawings are going on. You really need to get the girls back upon main floor, maybe over by buffet. We love the Rock, we miss your earnings on the Boyds. Times have caused cut backs but if youd let the normal people win more, they come more. Not just for your mailed out cards. Please realize if people dont start winning more the customers are going else where. The Bars have much more gambling, there actually letting people win. Ive notice you have the high rollers win large amounts, not everyone can afford to play high limits, and the little people are leaving. If thats what PARIDISE WANTS IS TO LOSE THERE CUSTOMERS IT WILL HAPPEN. I LOVE YOU GUYS, BUT EVEN SO WE DEBATE ABOUT GOING ELSE WHERE ALOT. EVEN DRIVING MORE TO DIFFERENT CASINOS WHO OFFER MORE....
