Disappointed. The owner was intrusive, argumentative and had a bad attitude. This was my second time attemting to patronize this gallery. The first time I called ahead (a few weeks prior actually) and spoke with the co-owner, a female, to inform them I was meeting an associate there for a lunch meeting, with the intent to patronize of course. (This was on a Wednesday when they are "appointment only.") She approved the appointment. Immediately after this, Najee called me to firmly and rudely state "we are closed" and hung up with no other explanation behind it.
So, I waited until a day they were "open" to the public and tried again. At the gallery, my associate and I walked around, admired the art pieces, and appreciated the scenery from the outdoor patio scenery they've created. After my associate left, the owner Najee approached me attempting to berate and start an argument with me for "not signing their bottle tree, not looking at the art," mentioning that he "listened in" on my conversation and accused me of "using his gallery for my own personal business.
After sharing that I called weeks ahead to make an appointment, and brought his response to me that "they were closed" back to his remembrance, instead of apologizing for his mistake and attitude, he began to further try to make "belittling" statements toward me and create a scene. This guy fully embarassed himself by publically making false accusations against inncocent people who were trying to support his business.
My associate and I posed no threat to anyone nor were we disruptive. The owner should be thoroughly ashamed of himself for how he reacted to his own delusion, for violating privacy laws, and how he allowed his own intrusive thoughts to...
Read moreBlack Art in America is an absolute treasure—a space where creativity, culture, and history come together in the most powerful way. From the moment I stepped in, I was drawn into the depth and meaning behind each piece. The curation is exceptional, showcasing a diverse range of Black artists whose work is both inspiring and thought-provoking.
I ended up purchasing two pieces of artwork that immediately spoke to me, and I know I’ll be going back for more. The entire experience felt personal and uplifting, and the staff made the visit even more memorable with their knowledge and warmth.
This isn’t just a gallery—it’s a cultural movement and a celebration of Black excellence in art. Whether you're a collector or simply looking to be moved, Black Art in America is a must-visit. I can’t recommend it...
Read moreA real gem of an art gallery in East Point. It’s a beautiful space and the exhibits are interestingly curated with diverse themes of Black art. Additionally, I really like the outdoor “garden” space and patio.
Today we came for the Richard Mayhew Landscapes exhibit. There were several other artists work on display as well. All really cool.
There’s an area inside to buy prints, t-shirts, books, jewelry etc. They also were serving juices and finger foods on the patio. We perused the art, bought a couple of things from the shop, then sat outside in the garden, chatting with other patrons. It made for a really cool outing.
We will continue to show our support. It’d also be a cool space to rent for an event.
The parking lot is always full when I’ve visited so prepare to park on the street or...
