We’ve had an experience like no other. For the first time ever we professionally had a self portrait done. I was so excited to get a realistic sketch done, little did I know we were in for a much greater experience and masterpiece! We met up with Dorian Vallejo an artist we found online in the local area, his work online was amazing so we thought we would reach out. In no time at all he responded and we booked our visit. :)

Entering the unknown territory of art and portrait life we were greeted and walked through the entire process. We had an excellent time as we learned about each other and shared experiences; past and present. We learned about art, some history, life lessons and had a lot of laughs. I’m amazed at how enjoyable and educational this experience was for us. Dorian went above and beyond our expectations and truly focused on his calling as an artist to bring us to life on paper, and provide an experience we will never forget! I approached Dorian with a request to help me create a special gift for an old friend who had suffered tremendous loss. I asked him if he could create a pencil drawing from a 33-year-old memory that only existed in my head. I expected him to tell me I was crazy, but instead he said that he was intrigued and would love to try to put my memory to paper. He very patiently listened as I explained this memory and the friend the drawing was for; he also asked a lot of questions about any tiny details I might remember (hair color, clothes, the lighting in the room that day, the vibe...). He contacted me more than once throughout his process to show me the progress and to ask if I wanted any revisions. I was worried that the finished product might not look anything like my old memory, but to my amazement, it ended up being so accurate! It was so much more than I expected, and I felt so grateful. I can’t stress enough how wonderful the experience of working with Dorian was. Long story short; his portraits of our children are absolutely spectacular, and really capture their spirit in an incredible way. They are some of our most treasured possessions. Dorian even dropped by our home to take photos and meet the kids, and was totally responsive and patient with us for the whole process. The drawings themselves are beautiful, and we really enjoyed the back and forth about what style we were after, and what might work well from an artistic viewpoint (we were pretty clueless, but Dorian is an absolute professional and guided us through!).
