Hudson Beauty Bar — Attraction in Edgewater

What can I say about Esther and Hudson Beauty Bar (HBB) that hasn’t been said already? The reviews are real, people! Yes, HBB is cute and really clean, and beverages and snacks are offered which is nice but let’s talk Esther. Esther is a PMU wizard; she has magic in her fingers! I searched high and low (NJ/NY) for a place to get my brows and eyeliner done and after I spoke to Esther I knew she was the one. Esther has a good vibe, is patient and professional (talented goes without saying) and that’s important when you have someone working on ANY part of you.

I’m in between the initial and touchup stages now and have 0 regret. Esther knows what she’s doing- not just technically but aesthetically (and that part IMO, can’t be taught because you either have an eye for proportion/balance and color or don’t). I wasn’t sure what to expect when I went but the process was smooth and Esther answered all of my questions with an abundance of patience (because I was a nervous first timer). I spoke with Esther for a good bit before we started because I wanted to make sure what I wanted was clear but Esther gave me her professional opinion and frankly, she was right and I’m happy I took her advice into consideration. She doesn’t push anything on you, by the way, she just offers her perspective and advises you in a nice way (so if you really insist on having brows up to your hairline or eyeliner that makes you look like the dog in Target’s ads, that’s on you).

The after care pouch Esther gives you after was an appreciated thoughtful touch and saved me from having to go and buy stuff. Tip: I did order cold gel packs for little kids on Amazon before my appointment because I didn’t want a big ole gel pack on my face and they worked perfectly for my eyelids. Note: MY skin is sensitive (no matter if I pluck/wax/thread/shave my brows or remove eye makeup 2 times in a row because I can’t get it right) my skin gets red and irritated very easily so gel packs were going to be a must for my lids. Powder brows for me were easy peasy (I didn’t even need numbing cream). But YOUR skin is different and you may not need gel packs but I thought I’d share my little tip in case you do.

I found pricing was in the range of other places I was looking at and frankly, we’re talking about our faces! You get what you pay for here and it’s 1000% worth it. I can’t recommend HBB enough. Esther gave me a new face and saved me time and frustration from doing my own makeup! I’ll definitely be coming back for touchups and lips and lashes (God forbid, but if I gotta escape an emergency situation like a fire, I may be in jammies but my face will look all right)! I want to preface this post that I did a lot of research before deciding to go to Hudson Beauty Bar as well as choosing Esther to do the services I wanted done. She was pricier than others I had researched, but I was extremely wary because I had my eyebrows microbladed in the past as well as eyeliner done and it didn't turn out the way I wanted. Hence, I was very cautious.

After reading all the reviews, I booked a consultation with Esther to discuss what I wanted done. Esther was very professional and honest about what she could do for me and stated that I should do powder brows as opposed to microblading again. She explained the reasons why, the process of both procedures and the various nuances of them. I was really impressed with how much she knew about her craft which should be a given, but often times, it's not. I felt really good after my consultation so I made an appointment to get my eyebrows and eyeliner done.

The day of the procedure, Esther walked me through exactly what she would do. She drew an outline of how she would do my eyebrows and I was really uncertain because it looked so thick and my eyebrows had been microbladed very thinly. She reassured me that it wouldn't be that thick, but made adjustments at my request. Same thing with the eyeliner. I vacillated back and forth and Esther was so patient and accommodating and made sure I was comfortable with what she was going to do. I was still nervous, but who isn't when they are getting permanent ink on their skin???

Anyway, I shouldn't have been worried. My eyebrows came out beautifully! I have a scar on my left eyebrow and I could feel Esther continually work on it and try to "mask" it to make both eyebrows as symmetrical as possible. My eyeliner was done to my specifications as well. I have a touch up appointment next week and I'm excited to see the final results!

In summary, even though Hudson Beauty Bar/Esther is slightly more expensive than other places, you truly get what you pay for. I couldn't be happier with the results. Esther loves her craft and she is a perfectionist. Why would you want to go to or trust anyone with less conviction and pride in what they do? I highly recommend Esther, Candice, their other employees, and just Hudson Beauty Bar overall. You can't go...

If you are looking for a sign this is it because I never write reviews!!!!! I researched for 2 years the place I would go to get my pmu license from. I was super picky about spending money and wanted to make sure I pick right!

I always ran into Hudson beauty bar and I’m so thankful I did. I sent my cousin to be a model . Asked her millions of questions on Esther and all her replies were”she’s amazing, nice, smart, , nice, patient” I was like no one is too perfect but god was I wrong. I am beyond grateful I choose her. She is all those things and more. She took her time to make sure I understood everything, holds me accountable, and most importantly believes in me and wants me to succeed just as much as I do. That is extremely hard to find in this business, people compete or won’t show you all the tricks. Not her, she pushes you to be your best. She is easily one of the greatest humans I have had the pleasure to meet. And if your thinking of going anywhere else don’t this is your sign this is the place. And for people getting procedures know you won’t be in best hands. Saw her with many clients and she takes her time to explain, listen to your needs, and make you sooo comfortable , also her hands our literally like feathers super light. I just love her.
