In America, enrollment for African American students is down 17% and for white students, it is down by 5%...I am starting to see why..
I was so excited for my child to attend this university. I am an alumni of Edinboro University (2004) and I convinced her to transfer colleges two years in because I thought she was missing out on thee amazing experience that is "THE BORO". YIKES, was I wrong! It is truly heartbreaking to see what an empty husk of a university Edinboro University has become. If you call any office with a concern, you are very unlikely to reach someone who is local (if you're able to reach anyone at all, typically, you'll just get routed and rerouted over and over again through the automated system never actually getting a human being). Most of the operations are handled by offices outside of the city, some even outside of the state. Anyway, in speaking with the staff, there is no sense of caring or inclusivity or excitement for the student's future. There's just this infuriating apathetic tone and attitude that is almost palpable. THE CAMPUS IS DEAD. It's not the campus, I remember. In my time at the Boro, During the day and even at night, there were people everywhere outside..students, faculty and guest speakers could be found huddled here or there..stopping to chat or set up meetings.. Greek life was insane! There were outdoor activities going on, concerts sponsored by the university, professors were local and typically had open door policies.. Concerns were met with empathy, and as a student, you got the feeling that the university truly cared about you. Incredible speakers were brought in..speaking on diversity and politics, womens issues, world issues, etc... The kids don't even walk around the campus anymore. They're all inside, stuck on their Xboxes and looking to social media for acceptance and some sort of social life because the university has given them nothing else to do. My young adult will graduate this weekend, not having experienced any of the excitement and promise I have shared with her so many times, reminiscing about my days at the Boro.. It would seem that the Boro's glory days have come and gone. 💔 And I am sad to say that my relationship with "the Boro" has ended. All that remains is my little bumper sticker that reads in bright red letters, "BORO".
Ps.. Pro tip - If you want to speak to someone on the phone, never ever use the prompt for current students.. You'll just get stuck in the automated system. The only way to get through is to select the "Interested in attending" option. Gotta keep that cash...
Read morei wouldn't even get give this school a one. I would get it a zero. I had professors who didn't care about there students. The campus police are jokes. The food on campus is bad to.The dorms are horrible. You get a horrible degree for what you are paying for. The only thing I enjoyed was the Frats. The best frat I was in was AKPsi. They are great people. The campus loop they had a few nice bus drivers. But the other ones were horrible. The dorms are very small and cost a lot of money. The campus food also cost a lot of money. Plus the campus police let sexual assaults happen on campus. They never do anything to put a stop to them. Also they think you are lying to them when you go and report it. Plus books are a lot of money to. They also have a clinic with people who dont know what they are talking about. I WOULD NEVER ATTEND AGAIN! I was raped many times at the university. It started in the FALL of 2014. I was raped 4 times. I was not on drugs or had alcohol in my system. It ended in the FALL of 2015. When I reported nothing happened. I got depressed. I got PTSD. Campus Police told me to commit my self to the mental hospital. Also If I didn't do it they would commit me for me. My rapist stocked and harassed me. I got told if my rapist made me feel uncomfortable I could move dorms or switch classes. I never got justice for what happened to me. I met with the Title 9 counselor and head of Judicial Affairs. The Head of Judicial Affairs had my reports and my grades. After the first semester my grade took a turn for the worse. She told me that I was lying about what happened to me. Also that no one believed me. I got no justice. Every rape I filed against Edinboro University got dismissed. I tried to start a club on campus for victims of rape and I got told "no" because it was not acceptable to talk about what happened. I will not be silent about what happened to me. This university is a shame...
Read moreSpeaking from a parent’s perspective, I’m disappointed with this college. We were lied to during the campus tour about the library renovation. It was supposed to be done in 2022 but ended up not being usable until January 2024. My daughter started her Marketing Major in the fall of 2021 and her freshman year was overall a nice experience. She got matched up with trashy disrespectful roommates but housing found her a new room quickly so the rest of that year was good. The food was decent and all of her classes were in person. Fall of 2022 was when the PennWest merger was complete and boy did things go downhill from there! The food is unhealthy and sometimes not cooked properly so my daughter started buying her own food to cook in the microwave in her dorm. Also, a lot of the classes are being taught by Clarion and CalU professors, therefore, have to be virtual. I can count on one hand the number of in person classes she has taken in the past 2 years! They should change the name to PennWest Online University! That is not what she signed up for when she started this program, as she was really excited to be in person amongst her peers after the whole COVID mess in her senior year of high school. The only good things I can say is the tuition is reasonable, the majority of her professors have been nice, and she found a great off campus apartment with a kitchen for her junior year so she’s not stuck...
