Normally I would be giving this place 5 stars because they do have great food and friendly service. However, my experience over the weekend was so bad that I had to leave a bad review. I've worked in restaurants before and from my own experience as a server, you should NEVER be standing around. Especially when it's busy. And it was busy when my boyfriend and I went to Flip the other day. It took 15 minutes of servers passing by us, ignoring us, and no one standing at the hostess station before anyone bothered to ask us if our names had been taken. We knew there would be a wait because there always is. Flip is always busy whenever we go. We didn't mind waiting, it was the fact that we were being completely ignored that bothered us. Finally someone took our name and we were seated. We got coffee and put in our orders. 45 minutes later: empty coffee, no food, our waitress hadn't bothered to check on us once. Meanwhile I saw not 2 or 3, but ALL of the wait staff standing around chit chatting with each other multiple times. By the time we got our food (which was cold) my boyfriend was so late for work that we had to box it up immediately and leave. An hour and half of sitting and waiting just to leave. By the time I got home, the cinnamon apple French toast I boxed up was soggy and I had to throw it away. $30 wasted at this place. Honestly might be a long time before I go back there, if at all. Horribly...
Read moreI grew up in the area and this is not our normal go-to for breakfast when visiting but the reviews and eclectic menu made us excited to try it. We came with a group of six and that was a mistake. Our estimate wait time of 30-35 minutes stretched to over an hour. Not entirely the restaurants fault that two moms with a gaggle of young children parked in a table for over an hour, but there is only one other table that can accommodate 6 people or more. The other group stay even longer. Short story, if you have more than four in your party this just isn't the place imo. Once seated, we ordered immediately having seen other reviews where the orders take at least a half hour. That timing held true for us on our visit. So in total it was over an hour and a half before we got our food. The positive side was the food ranged from good to excellent with most of it being in the latter category. I had the Elvis Presley and it was great. The cinnamon bun french toast was equally popular. The only one that was not great was the Ron Swanson because it was surprisingly light on the actual meat content. It was still good just not what was expected. The service once seated was very good. In summary, very good food - just expect to...
Read moreMost of the food is over priced, the quality of the food usually makes up for it, but I think it might be getting to a breaking point.
Last time I went in I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits meal, it was over priced for what you get ($6-8), but as I said above, that's not normally that much of an issue. I got my order and half of it was missing.
I told my waitress about it and she told me it was always like this, even though I've been there before and I know it wasn't. Also, the menu itself confirmed what I was saying. She then told me that if I wanted the other half, I would have to pay more for it. I did so, as to not cause trouble, but I was then charged an additional $3 for one biscuit, nothing else, which was half the size of the original one.
There was no reason for me to get upset about it there, because it wasn't her fault, and there was nothing she could have done for me anyway.
I know this is an oddly specific issue, but if it happened to me on this order, I'm wondering how many other things aren't accurate on the menu that you then have to retroactively pay even more to get what...
