Sundar Shadi Holiday Display — Attraction in El Cerrito

This is one of the great treasures of El Cerrito. An immigrant so loved the US and this community that he made this display for all to enjoy. He started with a few figures made from repurposed materials, and it grew every year. He has passed away, but volunteers keep it going.

This year the entire display has been painstakingly refurbished. It is immaculate!

Catch it while you can. It doesn’t stay out much later than Christmas day.

No bathrooms. Free street parking. Informative displays. Lights at night and sometimes music.

I grew up in the El Cerrito hills and one of our favorite Christmas traditions was to drive up to view Mr. Shadi’s display on the Arlington every year. The line was long but well worth it.

I’ve long since moved from the area, but intend to return this year.
