Iāve had multiple bad experiences here. First one was at their old location on the east side. Recently Iād been coming here again and all seemed to be fine. All the games were even getting price tags! Anyways my experience stems from something that was priced. There was a game priced at 40$ in which I told the owner that i would take it if it had the manual inside since it was priced already. He looked inside and not only did it have the manual, it had the poster too!! So I was really excited. Only to realize when I got home that he removed the poster and inserted the receipt inside the case where the poster was. I guess he took it upon himself to remove it since I said Iād take it with the manual. Whatās funny is I came back a couple times after this(twice with no one there as they are always at conventions and donāt open up till 1pm, so I wouldnāt advise going on lunch break), finally caught them there and itās back to how it used to be. Nothing is priced again and you have to wait for the guy to look up every single price for every game youāre interested in on eBay sold listings. Waste of your time if youāre in a hurry. And youāre definitely better off finding deals on eBay at your on leisure! Plus the owner seemed annoyed that I was asking to see them before he found the price on eBay. Iāll tell you about other experience while Iām here( which I tried to let go and support local business, but their bad business ways still exist). I went to forst location by Lee Trevino and found a game Iād been looking for at a decent price and I asked him to hold it while I go get cash. I came back less then an hour later as he was holding it(the owner with black curly hair and glasses, same guy from other horrible experience) he doubled the price on me!!!! Buyer beware* They try any way to get one over on you and I wonāt be returning again this time. What Iāve also noticed over the years is that the owner and his wife argue with all the customers on their bad review comment area that donāt agree or are wronged by them. They did it to me back then on argued on Facebook childishly as Iāve seen them do time and time again with other customers. Itās a real shame since we donāt have more shops like this in El Paso with better business practice. You ask why I kept coming back? Iād hoped theyd redeem themselves hopefully as it only made it worse :(
Update** : The owner argued with me on the bad review comment section as expected and also didnāt deny stealing my poster from my game!! I bet you he wanted to sell it at his booth at the comic con theyāre always at!!!!!!!!! Again buyers beware, donāt waste your time or money on this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is probably the best retro game store in El Paso. They have a decent selection, with reasonably priced games. I LOVE buying GBA games here! But I do have some suggestions! I recommend showcasing all the games and accessories that are behind the counter somewhere else, as it is very awkward looking at games while a employee is standing there! (Plus it is hard to see some games from the angle). Please showcase the higher dollar games better!! I saw that there were some good games behind the counter, but the average customer may not see it!! Games like those should be displayed upfront where everyone can see it! Also it would be nice to have the prices on the gameboy games marked on front rather than the back so I donāt have to ask a employee every time I want to know a price on a game. I really hope you guys take my advice somehow!!! Really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunate they price most of their games above price charting/ebay. I really want to support local but I canāt justify paying upwards of 2x actual market on video games. Came in ready to try and make deals but more than half the games donāt have a sticker price on them. Gears of war triple pack was priced at $35 and itās a $15 game shipped on eBay. A few of the games Ive looked at inside the cases are also 2x actual value. Iām not really sure who is buying these games, because the collectors I know actually cross check market pricing. Itās understandable the market changes all day on video games, but itās almost like the games most people want to buy are priced higher, and the really low end hard to sell is fairly close to market. Itāll be a while before I visit again, as Iāve left empty handed for the...
