My daughter and I love the fort and spending time with our historical reenactment friends. We dress up in period wear, do musters, and discuss education and history together. The park is a place where we can be ourselves and have fun. Fort Watauga is part of our family history, past and present. And don't miss the Tennessee state drama "Liberty" when we perform the events that formed our nation.

A beautifully maintained Park with historical significance. A wonderful Trail along the river with plenty of benches to sit, relax and enjoy nature. We stopped at The Visitor Center first, made some purchases, and then continued on but had trouble finding directional signs for the trailhead.

Historical site in Elizabethton that has a lot to explore and gift shop. A few quite trails were our favorite part. We didn't explore everything because we plan to come back later, and we wanted to have a few surprises left for the next visit.

Wonderfully maintained sight. Not a supporter of what it represents, nor the results that still perpetually stem from its existence. Yet, I agree it holds historical significance as a 'public monument visually demonstrating both the sinful atrocity of this period of time and the dastardly failure of HUMANITY to follow the edicts of God's Word. How such past decisions & actions of every human back then (still perpetuated today) committed a grave abominable sin against the edicts of God's Word, particularly being: "FOR ALL HUMANITY TO LOVE ANOTHER" (not barricade, hurt, diminish, dismiss, maim, murder one another). Yet to this very day the abominable sin of this decision & it's ensuant actions RESTS/RESIDES as if an everlasting plague or mold upon all descendants and non-descendant supporters who truly know not God's Word thus perpetuating the effects of past actions across the span of time of Earth's existence. So again, I am not a supporter of such decisions as this represents. NOT UNTIL & AFTER FULL ATONEMENT is conducted, thereby releasing existing and future generations from this sinful event of yesteryear. And not until such sights via [usage of] Public Signage & Government Mandate publicly state in clear view that never again will such actions as in the past take place or be decided upon by ANY governing body, government official, designated leader, or chosen representative to ever again re-occur in Earth's future to ANY individuals of ANY ethnicity, race, skincolor, creed, sexual disposition or any other variance from the majority populace IN / WITHIN every nation, country, state, region, city, township, suburban village, hamlet, cove, cave, estuary, open field, and any wildland area worldwide. Nowhere on this planet ever again! Only then will the abominable sin of these ancestors be forgiven eternally by GOD, Lord Jesus Christ & The Holy Spirit [together aka 'The Holy Trinity'] and only then will existing & future descendants be free of such an abdominal sin. Now that's my full & honest opinion. This IS NOT racially-based by any translation, language, or interpretation.

Additionally, the foolish gall of mankind holds no honor and simply shows with clarity the unavoidable ignorance of humanity in that past time period. God created all humanity and says, "LOVE ONE ANOTHER." Yet, humans do the opposite which only proves DELIBERATE, PERPETUATED GALL of humanity then & still today in 2024.

Per Gods Holy Word in all versions: The Koran / The Assyrian Bible / The Torah / The Jehovah Bible / and The Holy Bible their actions were & still resonate like a residue upon all descendants as an UNFORGIVABLE PERPETUAL SIN AGAINST GOD (no eternal salvation for their dead souls).

Despite how many churches are erected or charitable deeds committed this gravest sin is like a BLEMISH on all descendents until actions of ATONEMENT & RIGHTFUL OWNERSHIP OF THIS PERPETUATED SIN [Spreading DISCRIMINATION AND/OR BLIGHT OR ATROPHY AGAINST OTHER HUMANS OF ANY ETHNICITY) is publicly agreed & conducted.

Until revisement of ALL GOVERNMENTAL & NON-GOVERNMENTAL POLICIES, PROCEDURES, LAWS, FEES, TARIFFS, and more REFLECT THE 100% OMISSION OF ANY BARRING DISPARITIES used against individuals of any ethnicity, culture, skincolor or language. Until that truthfully & 100% occurs their resting souls & their descendants souls represent a sinful transgression and abomination against God's Holy Word as distinctly put forth within ALL BIBLES stating: WE ARE CREATED EQUAL BY GOD AND WE ARE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER and BE STEWARDS OF EARTH ( his consistent and vast BLESSED GIFT TO MANKINDS survival); and SERVE ONLY TO SPREAD HIS HOLY WORD ONLY IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST (not serve to kill one another).

Mankind has messed up sharing/ translating God's Holy Word. Seems as if God is quite angry at those who govern/rule/mandate/dictate worldwide & approve/agree to enact laws that taketh from any individual(s). His anger seems evident in every crisis event that occurs. Yet, as always mankind truly sees not what is right before their...

If you have an interest in history or nature, this is a great day trip for you and your kids Check out the authentic 1700s fort with wonderful interpreters. There is a gift shop with clean restrooms and a walk-through museum that describes what happened there between the Cherokee and the settlers. The 3rd weekend in May is their reenactment of the Seige of Watauga. You don't want to miss this event. There are period demonstrations all through the fort and the grounds; Period tents, cooking demos, firing demos, period music. Take a walk along the river and see the native wild flowers, vegetation, and the soaring sycamore trees. Your kids will love it too. Every year in July, the reenactors there put on an original play about the Cherokee and...

I really enjoyed visiting this place. It may be small and simple, but it’s thoughtfully designed and very well cared for. Everything feels intentional—clean, organized, and easy to navigate. I appreciated the clear signage, especially on the walking trails where emergency posts are numbered to help with location in case of need. That level of attention shows a genuine commitment to doing things right and thinking of visitors’ safety and experience. The park also offers a few fitness stations, which is a nice bonus. And it’s all free! A great example of how quality doesn’t require extravagance. Thank you to the ranger! He was very kind, helpful and...
