I'm an avid pop collector, and not like I buy every new release. I go where the valuable pops are, cons, stores, etc. MECG has a great selection for valuable pops and it's why I've made the drive out there several times, that's where the 3 stars are earned and deserved. The store is nice and set up very well. That being said my last handful of experiences have been steadily getting worse and why I haven't bothered to go back since the start of summer. I was looking to turn a half dozen or so $50 pops into one good one, they take trades, they've taken them everytime I've gone before. Until they didn't, suddenly you needed to call ahead even though the guy I've worked with before was there. So we called ahead, got the green light, brought our stuff out there and low and behold, not taking trades for anything worth more than $10... Excuse me? Ok, sure, whatever, another visit with no purchasing on my part. The third and final time I brought one singular pop worth about $200 on ebay figuring why wouldn't they want to make a trade with me. I'll give them a $200 pop and leave with a $400 pop. Happily paying the difference in the trade for something I've been watching them not sell for a year. Well guess what? They weren't even interested enough to hear what I had let alone look at it. Flat out no trades today for whatever reason they had that day. And that's that for me. I'd rather go ebay hunting and pay a little extra to someone in the void then basically get disregarded or flat out lied to. If you collect whatever they're selling I wouldn't tell you to not check it out. I'd just say don't expect to be blown away after the first impression of looking around the store. I may give them one more chance at some point and just pay full price and not expect to get any trade action going but as a collector who doesn't hesitate to take out their credit card for big money items, I don't know? I...
Read moreI will give the store a 3 star review since part of this is my fault for not checking my order once it was provided to me.
I ordered a set of cards from the shop and drove a hour to pick them up. Upon getting home I checked the cards that I ordered and noticed that 6 of the 21 cards that I ordered where marked, damaged, or not the correct edition.
Now the cards I ordered where not expensive. There is still no reason to be getting lightly played to moderately played cards when I ordered Near Mint, 1st Edition or Limited Edition.
Two of the cards I received have slight damage on the border revealing foiling. This is most likely due to how they were stored before picking and or being stored to tightly. Another card has a scratch above the name and a dent under the name. The last card which is the moderately played has clear visual indents on the middle to the left of the card as well as a bend in the back. Wear and tear is different from damage due to mishandling. The final card was supposed to be first edition which their site showed that they had and I received an unlimited version. Which is funny since a different card was canceled since it was out of stock. It could have just been a picking mistake.
I am not an avid collector, but when I order ahead of time, wait two days for the order to complete, then drive a hour to pick up the product just to get home (again, I should have checked each card before I left) and notice the mistakes. It is aggravating since they had more than enough time to pick the cards and check them/ verify they were in good condition or correct. Besides that the store is clean, has very friendly staff, and has a variety of products. Models, trading cards, snacks, comics, and more.
Please do not be like me... check your cards before...
