I spent $18 on 2 plain canolis, a mango guava drop, and Twix canoli. The twin canoli HAD A HAIR IN THE CHOCOLATE Shell. You can see it hanging in the photo. It wasn't just on top but rather inside the food. Obviously that is an immediate turn off. The plain canolis were okay, soft with no crunch, not a fresh ricotta flavor. probably because the pastries are made in the morning and refrigerated rather than filled in front of u. The mango drop may be good to some people but is not to my taste. It was basically all cream with a very dense cake at the bottom. Didn't taste like mango or guava. Within the service, there's one lady working in the front. From what I've learned in the reviews, she's probably the owner. Very much running around and the only person to pick up phones so when she's on the phone the line builds up. They also don't show you the box of pastries while packaging it and hand it to you tapes shut so I had no way of verifying that the order was correct until in my car. There's also no written menu but instead a order what you see. Plenty of seating inside, also no silverware provided if needed. While there's lots of variety in the pastry flavors, they're also missing a lot of key mkre accessible things. It's basically all ricotta based or cakes. Overall, I would not recommend this place. As someone who does not live locally, i would not go out of my way. It also may be too overwhelmimg for someone with anxiety as there's no way to plan ahead what you want nor are any ingredients listed anywhere or do you have the time to inquire. Instead I'd recommend South End Bakery in Newington for a fresher canoli, filled and made in...
Read moreI'm not sure what the 2 star "Google User" was talking about. We have been going to this place for years. They are amazing. They have so many crazy unique flavors of cannoli and all of them are delicious. My Italian families (on many sides) have always been impressed when I have brought these to get togethers. This is a family business run by a very sweet Italian matriarch & patriach. They always make you feel welcome. Their cakes in the display cases are fantastic and they are willing to take custom cake orders, if you ask. They made us a wonderful cake shaped like a flip-flop for a friend's bridal shower. The pizza is great by the slice and their frozen entres are delicious as well. They have a great selection of italian cookies and constantly keep things fresh by introducing and testing new pastries. Around the holidays (Easter & Christmas) they usually have seasonal favorites, special stuffed breads, cookies, etc. I can't say enough good things about Russo's. Give them a shot, and I'm sure they'll become one of your...
Read moreI’m usually cautious about bakeries with large selections — it makes me wonder how fresh everything can really be. I recently stopped in looking for a birthday cake and was pleasantly surprised.
I found a beautiful Tiramisu cake and asked when it had been baked. They assured me it was made fresh that morning. Although skeptical, I decided to give it a chance and I’m so glad I did.
The cake was stunning and absolutely delicious. Each layer was moist, with espresso-soaked sponge balanced by light, smooth cream. The flavors were authentic, not too sweet, and you could truly taste the freshness. It didn’t have that dense, refrigerated feel — it was airy and full of flavor.
The service was excellent too — friendly, patient, and attentive, making the whole experience even better.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed. If you’re looking for a cake that’s both beautiful and genuinely fresh, paired with great service, I highly recommend giving this bakery a try. I’ll...
