low star for maintenance, otherwise area is great. Been a few months since I was here. Outisde area is great, lots of tables and space and a play area for anyone with kids and trail entrances close by. Bathrooms were gross but at least they were open unlike at the Ross picnic area. The porta potties were absolutely disgusting....more than they normally are in any given area. Wondering why the restroom building was not open. Sign said "closed for the season" Since I parked here I had to use them, and again on the way out and there was no paper or hand sanitizer left. Luckily I carry both. Why have them there if they can't even be maintained? Also the pot holes at the lot entrance are INSANE! I thought it would have been fixed by now and when it's flooded, nobody has a clue you can lose a wheel. I just can't believe it has gone on for this long. The general maintenance of the area makes me not want to come back. Trash everywhere. Guess people can't pick up after...
Read moreA greenbelt oasis hugging the leading edge of the Palisades and the Hudson Rivers Western shores. Stretching north for miles from an area just below the George Washington Bridge, this interstate park offers a tranquil break from some of New Jersey's most densely populated communities and busiest traffic routes. Hiking the cliffs, bicycling the well oaved roads, strolling the waterfront, picnicking in well tended parklands, fishing from jetties, bird watching in the open skies, marvelling at the Bridge and towering city across the river. Food and beverage services are provided all summer long and on weekends well into fall. The commission provides cultural programming. There are many districts in this massive park that extends into NY State toward Bear Mountain. It's worth a visit - and once you do,...
Read moreWe went to this park for outdoor picnic and BBQ on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. We first arrived at Ross Dock picnic area around 9:45am, but all the public grills were already taken by then. We pivoted to Englewood and nabbed the last public grill remaining. It turned out that this park was much quieter and relaxing, perhaps because there are fewer children since it doesn’t have a playground like the other park. In the latter part of the afternoon the cliff casts a nice long shadow to keep everyone cool. Overall we really enjoyed grilling and picnicking here. The main downside is that there are only port-a-potty stations, and these are not the most pleasant...
