2017 marks the eighth year of operating independent of State funding and our emergence as Michiganās only State Fair.
The fair is now governed by the Upper Peninsula State Fair Authority with representatives from all fifteen counties in the Upper Peninsula and the Hannahville Indian Community.
Since 1928, the Upper Peninsula State Fair has provided a place for folks from across the nation to experience and celebrate the unique culture and heritage of Michiganās Upper Peninsula. The āFairā remains as unique and wonderful as the people and places found across this marvelous peninsula.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreFair actually was kinda stupid and chinsy this year. Prices OBSCENELY HIGH for things. Some is to be expected when you go to a fair, it's within the nature of a fair. Everyone knows that fairs are overpriced rip offs, but this year was to the EXTREME! Also a lot of things seemed very lame in comparison to other years. It was ok, had an ok time, but it just wasn't what a state fair should be. Found it to be lacking in multiple ways: variety and location of rides, entertainment, animal barns, vendors, etc. Understandable that it's only a couple years after the onset of the COVID pandemic and the nation is STILL going through it, but I still found that this year's fair is in need of CONSIDERABLE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat small town fair for the locals. I have been there many times over the years. Only thing this year it felt condensed and less offerings. Ruth butler building was always great for those local artists to present their stuff. This year there was a whole row of only hottubs. There was less entertainment offerings as well with I believe and only saw the illusion show (in past there was a lumberjack shows, a little stage in the park area next to ruth butler building having bands playing throughout the fair). The rides were great and still have several of them that's been there for decades. The fair food was plentiful as well. Otherwise a great experience that just needed more...
