Update: I am here again asking why Essex Library refuses to enforce the no smoking law . These people are standing in front of the drop boxes. I did not see him before I sent my 10 yr old up. Why does my kid have to walk thru that? Why isn't A child more importatnt than someone breaking the rules? Your constant enabling, giving no cosequences( like not allowing them in if they can't abide by the rules), and PRETENDING you do not see it is clear. You have cameras we know the staff can see them. So many liars in one building. They lack integrity and honor. Essex Library has a problem with people smoking standing in front of the return drops smoking, filling up the entrance way with smoke. Why won't management deal with this? Why do these people matter more than the children coming in and out or the people with respiratory issues, allergy issues. The "management" this morning was just going to ignore it because the a** just walked inside as she went out. I said " you aren't going to say anything?" She says " I don't know who it is". The other staffer that spoke to the guy was right there as well as I could point him out. Grow a backbone, that's why those people take advantage because you REFUSE to...
Read moreTrash. Purely and wholeheartedly. Visited this place for the first time today with my son. The amount of rudeness we experienced just spoke of the in adequacies of the establishment in the staff. The place is tiny yet the dusty old buffalo behind the counter couldn’t be bothered to help us look for certain genre or even show interest in her position at all. My son needed to register for a library card. That too was a hassle and we were made to feel like a bother. When handed anything she would give it back to me by slamming it on the desk. Every so often she would glance up with the most cringy smile. Show casing a brownish crooked grin. I’ve never wanted to leave such a place in my life. I damn near felt like we might have accidentally stumbled into the Hills Have Eyes and may become trapped. It’s not far from home but I don’t mind going a little further. I honestly pity the individual yet the overall experience, organization or lack there of didn’t give off the welcoming experience I’m used to when visiting the PUBLIC library. I’ll leave this Swap meet...
