Inca Chicken — Restaurant in Essex

I cook all the time for my family and know how things taste and how they shouldn't taste. Tonight was my cooking day off and we decided to try Inca. This was our first time in here. All the food presentation was great. The place was clean. Behind the counter was clean and organized. The staff was nice and friendly. Small language barrier, but managed. I got a bowl. It looked amazing. I took a bite of the cheese and rice. The taste was off .. I thought it was a different spice. I then tasted each individual thing.. chicken- fine, lettuce-fine, pico-fine, cheese-mold, rice-maybe mold. I tasted mold. I stopped eating. I told the guy at the counter. He said that it was the type of cheese and the bag of cheese was new. I told him not to serve that cuz someone would get sick. We'll, I am currently the sick one. Spent almost $100 for moldy food. ...

I am admittedly skeptical of places like this because the chicken is usually super dry, but this was anything but dry. The chicken was juicy, tender, and seasoned well, so much so that I hardly used any sauce.

The yuca and sweet plantains paired perfectly. I got the quarter chicken combo that was a perfect amount of food at a very reasonable price for $12. If I hadn't been so hungry I would have definitely had left overs.

The white sauce paired well with yuca (as the employee suggested), and with the chicken. The green sauce made for a good dipping sauce and paired well with the chicken. The green sauce was a bit too spicy for my reflux, but is a good level of heat for anyone who loves heat.

The place was very clean and had a good amount of seating if you want to dine in.

This is hands-down one of my favorite go to places to eat. The portions are always amazing and the food is on point! 💖I usually get the chicken with green beans, or fries ,and I’ve also gotten the steak, when they sold out of chicken. Neither of them ever disappoint!! The food is super consistent and well seasoned. The sauces are both delicious, the green is especially tasty.The service always great, as well. I’m shocked at some of these bad reviews, as someone who has been ordering here several times a week for the past few years. I hope they never go out of business because they will always have...
