We could not have been more disappointed in our recent stay at Sprague Mountain 201 in Estes Park, managed by SkyRun Estes Park. The level of safety and cleanliness within the space was appalling - especially with the elevated cleaning fees that supposedly are in place to ensure the highest level of sanitation within pandemic times. We had to call maintenance within 10 minutes of checking in to ensure the glass globe of the ceiling fan wasn’t going to crash down on our 1-year-olds head when we turned on the light. I’ve attached a photo of how off-kilter the light still was even AFTER it was “fixed”. I’ve also attached photos of how “clean” the place was - which gives me zero confidence that any COVID protocols were followed anywhere else - a rusty screw that was on the floor that thankfully our child never found, the out-of-date oven whose door was scalding to the touch, the disgusting pan we were given to cook with, and the splintered railing which we thankfully saw before cutting open our hands. Additionally, it was never mentioned that the unit was right next to a construction site and had no views to speak of. I cannot believe you feel comfortable charging the rate and fees you do for this unit. For that price, we were so excited to be in a well-kept and spacious condo. From the tightness and lack of maneuverability in the master bedroom to the previously mentioned safety and cleanliness issues, we felt completely duped out of the money we spent for a supposed home away from home. We sent this same message to SkyRun hoping for some explanations or feedback and received no response. EDIT: SkyView, where have you communicated? I do not have an email or response to our message to you through the Vrbo website. I don’t know what communication you are referring to about the fan. What about the railing? Did you replace the oven? How about all the dust in the place when you’re charging extra for cleaning with COVID? Whether the construction is inactive or not, you’re charging premium rates for a no-view room with the added eyesore of the construction. I’m sorry, but a response a month later on our review just because it’s in a public forum won’t cut it. Especially when we have not communicated at all, despite your claims.

Our group of six rented Bear House for an extended weekend, and it was perfect. Lots of space to spread out, comfy beds, great location and access to both the town and RMNP. The booking process and check-in were smooth and easy. Booking through SkyRun saved us some money off what other sites had it listed for. The house and amenities were as described (even better). We enjoyed unwinding in the hot tub after hiking and though we didn't cook much there (opting to dine at our favorite restaurants while in town - Ed's Cantina, Claire's, and Notchtop), I can't imagine there wouldn't be everything you need for full meals. One thing to note about the house - it is a split level, and there are a lot of stairs, both inside and out. One in our group has mobility issues but was able to enter at the driveway level and took a bedroom on that level, but still needed to come up two flights of stairs to get to the kitchen and family room. Not having issues that way I would not have given it a second thought. There are several decks that would be fabulous in the warmer months. The location was a little less secluded than I thought it would be, but we still saw wildlife. During morning walks just around the neighborhood we were met by deer and wild turkeys. Plus, the location was super convenient. Most important though was that it was CLEAN. That's high on the priority list for us when we travel. A couple of us had a great hike up Glacier Gorge Trailhead in RMNP to Alberta Falls and then on to Mills Lake. The wind in the parking lot was gusting like mad, but once we were in the trees it was a wonderful hike with just some short stretches of wind higher up approaching Mills Lake. Snowshoes may have been easier up high, but for most of the trail, only spikes are needed. If you want a more sedentary experience, check out Inspired Artisan Studio on Moraine Ave. They have tons of classes that several in our group had fun with. We love the town of Estes and all it has to offer, and we would definitely rent Bear House again through SkyRun!

UPDATE: It’s been 3 weeks since we checked out and we still haven’t received any refund. We stayed in the Creekside Retreat unit. We checked in on Sunday, 12/17, and my kids noticed there was rat poop on the floor in the bunk room. We vacuumed it up and let the company know about it. It was after hours so nobody responded. Then, upon waking up on Monday, my hands, face, and neck had bed bug bites. You could visibly see several bugs (tinted red) running around the covers. Maintenance came over and confirmed they were bed bugs. We were moved to another unit but we wasted a day of our vacation cleaning our clothes, steaming our luggage, and spraying our vehicles. Not to mention the 4 days I spent itching and oozing because I’m allergic to them. It made for a miserable week and I even had to see a doctor and get two prescriptions to manage the intense itching and swelling. Skyrun offered to reimburse half of our rent, less the cleaning fee, but my husband demanded a full refund, which Julia agreed to (less the fees), but it’s been 4 days since we checked out and we haven’t received anything. Not even the half they originally offered. They do have beautiful properties so that’s why I gave them 2 stars.

I normally do not leave negative reviews but the manner in which this company is handling this issue is unacceptable. First I must say that I am so sorry that Estes Park had to go through the stress and uncertainty of the troublesome wildfire and I am so happy that the town was spared. I was to arrive for my stay on 10/26/20 and fortunately had been watching the news and knew about this ongoing fire but didn't think that it would affect my stay, because no one called me to cancel my stay. I would have flown into an evacuated town, with nowhere to stay. Utter chaos! I had to call and leave numerous messages before finally a Julie returned my call. She was not the most hospitable, but I gave her a pass considering that she most likely was stressed at this time. She said that they had cancelled my reservation so do not come. Take it, that I was to fly out the next day. She said I would be getting a full refund back within 4-6 weeks. Extremely a long time but I am trying to be understanding. That time frame came and passed and upon calling her again and leaving numerous messages that went unanswered, finally on 12/10/20 a Rachel calls me back.. She is very condescending, unconcerned and not helpful. She says she needs to contact accounting and will get back with me. She does call back and leaves a message that a check will be mailed out to me the following week. They can't just return my payment to my credit card. Again I am trying my best to be patient. Today 12/18/20, I called Rachel just to confirm that the check had been mailed and the interaction was very disappointing. She had the the rudest, most condescending, take it or leave it attitude and was very unprofessional. She said she had no idea about the refund, that she was told to not give out any specific timeframe anymore and that she had no one to contact to get anymore information. She said "I'm sorry this is not on your timeframe" "Rest assured you will get it sometime soon". . What kind of scam are they running. They cancelled my reservation and didn't even care to inform me. They are the worst management company ever and I'm sure if their clients knew that this is the manner that they operate, they would find another company. The Peaks at Lake Mary's are beautiful but the poor incompetence of the management company significantly ruins that value. My patience is done and I have decided to open a fraud claim with my bank to get my hard earned money back into my account. Just beware, that if a problem ever arises involving a refund, and probably other issues as well, this is how you will be treated. Estes Park is beautiful, with many fine places to stay. Just make sure before booking that SKYRUN of ESTES PARK is NOT the management company. Your vacation should be a time for R&R not ruined by a company that obviously does not value your time, money or that you have a great vacation experience. They are brazenly attempting robbery of my funds!! Find another place to spend your vacation other than a SKYRUN of ESTES PARK management company property!! You'll be so happy that you did, if an unexpected...

Edited to address a few things in their response - To the point of contacting me about the balconies - that did not happen and to the other point of me not contacting someone about our issue - maybe the staff member working that day didn't document it but we did call the number numerous times. I am happy to hear that the balconies are fixed now - they weren't then and again we were not told about this change (which as you can imagine was so disappointing). I did previously write a review on VRBO which I added to Google after receiving an email from this company (a general email that reminded me). 1.5 years ago or not, this was my experience. I do appreciate your apology though - this is the first time I have heard that from the company.

I made this reservation back in January 2021 for our honeymoon in October 2021. Upon arriving we discovered that NONE of the balconies were available for use due to repairs being needed. I called the number provided (several times and it rang over and over with no voicemail) and the lady who finally answered mentioned that they tried to call everyone to inform them of this change in the property. I was never called or informed in any way of this change. The balconies and views were a huge part of why we chose this place for our HONEYMOON. I would have just stayed somewhere else if we could have gotten our money back. In addition to this huge disappointment there were other issues. This house we stayed in was in desperate need of renovations. We both felt like we were staying at our grandma's house. The grout in the bathrooms needs a good scrubbing with some bleach as well (blech). Also, for some reason every time we touched any light switch or thermostat we were shocked badly. There is only heat at this house which was fine once we figured out how to use it and there were no instructions provided (we are from Texas so the setup was different than we were used to). The only redeeming qualities in our opinion were the location and the view (which again could only be enjoyed from the windows since the balconies were unavailable). I would never rent from this company again after the...
