As a rule I only post positive reviews and otherwise just protest poor experiences by not spending money at locations where the experience is negative. However this facility is supported with our property taxes so I'm forced to pay anyway so here is my review:
The building itself is actually pretty nice and I know and like several of the employees personally.
Unfortunately several other employees are consistently unpleasant even the janitor (whom is mentioned in another review) is just a special piece of work. I have also had unsatisfactory interactions with Carly, the "Guest Services Manager".
The equipment is poorly maintained. We have had to play volleyball with a ball from 2015 and the nets are so loose there is about a 2 inch dip in the center.
During the week the lap pool is only open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. so if you have a job forget it.
The hot tub rarely works.
As far as recreational sports go I've only played Volleyball. It's SUPER expensive $225 for a 6 game season and referees that don't know squat about the sport. For example the house rule on sevice foot faults is that it's not a fault unless the foot is completely over the service line.
I'm usually in favor of public community infrastructure but this place is run like... I'll just say that I'll never willingly give them a nickel again.
On the plus side there is a measure on the ballot this fall to extend the property tax that supports the rec. I'll vote no....
Read moreNepotistic and opportunistic people here. Beware. A real shame since it is a nice place to work out. A manager (Alicia or something?) arbitrarily made up a rule and enforced it despite it not being written policy. I expressed some displeasure with this, and with MGMT closing the gym earlier in the month for weather conditions. This was done without warning and without a plan to reimburse their customers who had already paid. Alicia (?) said she could reimburse me, and that was that. About 10-15 minutes later I notice the janitor staring at me quite aggressively. I looked at him and he cornered me while I was stuck on a machine, and started to accuse me of "getting in his daughter's face". Alicia seems perfectly capable of handling her own matters, but I was not aware it was a "family affair". After this somewhat jarring experience Alicia saw fit to eject me from the gym and threatened to call the police. Yiiikes. I have worked out here for a year and a half without any problems, but this was beyond the pale. Unprofessional and abusive...
Read moreThis is a relatively new facility and its clear that a lot of thought and effort was put into it's design. It's clean, there's plenty of space (with one exception) I didn't participate in any classes or use the lap pool, so I can't speak to that. The staff I did interact with both in person and on the phone were extremely friendly and helpful. The locker rooms are nicely laid out so you aren't crowded and the lockers are pretty spacious so you have room for all your winter gear if you're walking or riding there.
My only gripe (and it's a small one really) is that there is a functional fitness area in the basement adjacent to the weight room where you'll find stuff for TRX or Crossfit style workouts. That area is sort of small. If you're the only person there it's fine however once there's two or three people there it's a little crowded. And the elevator is right there, so you get some people passing through. Overall though I'm super impressed with this place and that issue is a...
