I expressed interest in a chandelier priced for $175 w/a %10 discount and asked for it to be placed on a 24hr hold while the store connected it to an outlet to ensure that the light fixtures worked. The next day the store owner, K-, called me to inform me that the chandelier was no longer priced at $175 and that the chandelier's owner had called awhile earlier and decided to raise the price from $175 to $450 because "it was a custom chandelier." Whatever the price should or shouldn't have been, it is absolutely shady form the business owners at Fine Consign to raise the prices last minute because a buyer expressed interest. They "blamed" the piece's owner for the price raise but I suspect they wanted to see if I would go up in price for the chandelier as I had been in the store multiple times eyeing it in the past. I've been a long time buyer of antiques in the area and never once encountered this kind of last minute "price hike" practice they perform at Fine Consign. My business will go elsewhere. As it turned out, I found two other chandeliers at another antique store in Coburg that were original antiques with crystal for $400. That's $400 of my money that Fine Consign will never get and nor will they get my business or my endorsement again, either. Buyer beware: if you do buy at Fine Consign DON'T place a 24 hr hold or court the pieces there too long. Apparently they will use your interest to jack up the prices last minute if they think...
Read moreGreat Couch but ..... They told me that they had delivery and I called to set it up and spoke to the man who was going to be delivering the couch. We made an appointment for which he was 2 hours late. After the couch was in my house he gave me a big smile and said there's a $75 delivery fee. I live less than 5 miles from that store. Also he didn't mention the $75 delivery fee when we made the appointment. The stuff is wonderful but go pick it up yourself. Sadly it is an expensive lesson learned. I wont be going back. Edit A little after I posted this I got a call from Kristen one of the delivery people who said that she felt bad that they had sprung this Ginormous delivery fee on me and she was kind enough to refund me $50. I approached the desk, with a small item in my hands. Did I want to buy it? Yes, please but could you also get me that item on the high shelf behind you? Oh yes! She turns to go get it, asking ‘this one?’ Yes, I say. And at this moment a second staffer literally shouts at me, “YOU CAN’T STAND THERE! IF YOU’RE BUYING SOMETHING GO TO THE CASHIER’S DESK OVER THERE!” I do this but now I’m not within sight of the first staffer who has come back with my item and is looking around.
