As a recreation center for families, this place is great. The price is reasonable (at least for Eureka residents) considering all that is offered. The swimming area, or should I say water park, is very kid-friendly and is complete with some water slides, a water playground, fountains, a waterfall wall, and a tiny "lazy river." The building is put to great use and there are several fitness classes offered there. The daycare is nice. The staff is mostly teenagers, for better or worse. The gym is not huge, but not small. There are plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals, a stair master or two) and you will never have to wait for a cardio machine. The gym could use more benches, racks, pulley systems, and free weights, if there was room for them (there isn't unless perhaps some of the cardio machines were moved) as that is where the gym gets crowded. Basically the east side of the gym (where the free weights and racks are) is normally a lot more crowded than the west side (where the cardio machines are). Also the hours are disappointing for those of us who like to work out at night. So if you are looking for a family-friendly gym to do cardio at, and/or a family-friendly mini water park in the summer, this place will work great. If you want to use this place to do weight-resistance training, it is a little more difficult, because there is less equipment for the crowd interested. This place is the closest thing to a normal gym as it gets in all of Eureka. Perhaps some day a proper gym will be built in Eureka and then this place can shed some of it's gym-bro crowd (me included). For now we are grateful we at least...
Read moreI bought a 20 visit pass for each of my two sons to use. I don't live in Eureka so the Timbers is very expensive for non residents. Anyhow I wanted to have my older son sign his pass over to my younger son. He moved and has not been able to use it. I asked last month about combining the passes and the desk clerk acted like she had never heard of such a thing. She also went on to inform me that the passes would be expiring next month so it really didn't matter. I spent around 250 for 40 visits(20 visits won't ever be used) to the Timbers. Had I known that they expired I NEVER would have bought them. We don't live in Eureka and I can only get my son out there once or twice a month. So buyer beware if you buy passes make sure to use them in one year and if you purchase them a Christmas gift remember that whatever day you buy them they will expire in...
Read moreDo not have a party here! Some of the staff was fine but the other half was so rude. We on accidentally popped a ballon with paper in it and tried to refuse our deposit saying we signed an agreement against glitter before going in the room. The agreement wasn’t shown to us until we were walking out the door and refused to sign it until they agreed the room was up to their standards. We even got a broom and cleaned the entire room and asked the staff member if we got everything and they said it looked fine. After bringing up to the managers attention about not getting full deposit Ann made the excuse the employee was only part time and didn’t know. The person we talked to was Ann Moore and we were blown away that some one so rude is allowed to work in...
