THE BEACH WAS NOT BEACHING came to this beach expecting sun, sand, and serenity. What I got was a gritty, salty nightmare that could only be described as a nature documentary gone wrong.
First off, the sand. It's everywhere. In my shoes, my sandwich, my soul. I tried to build a sandcastle, but it turned into a sand pyramid—lopsided and existentially disappointing.
The water? A murky soup of regret. I dipped my toe in and immediately felt like I was being judged by every seagull in a five-mile radius. Speaking of seagulls, they strutted around like they owned the place, stealing snacks and dreams alike.
And the waves? They were loud. Too loud. Like they were mocking me for thinking I could relax.
In summary, this beach is a sandy, salty, seagull-infested trap. If you enjoy discomfort, disappointment, and the constant feeling that you're being watched by judgmental birds, then this is the place for you.

Read moreGreat place to walk your dog, however check the rules for the summer months. If you cannot walk the beach with your dog during this season, not to worry, there is a great little fenced-in dog beach near the little marina. Also, there are many meandering trails surrounding the beach for a great nature walk. There is even an adjacent manicured park a bit inland, plus gorgeous, tree-lined neighborhoods, just beyond the park, with plenty of roomy sidewalks and amazing homes with interesting architecture in which to gander. So if the beach is crowded or you cannot walk the beach with your dog or you just want a change of pace, you can enjoy these serene and beautiful...
Read moreThis is my favorite park/beach in Evanston. I hosted a smores soiree last year and it was EVERYTHING. Primarily because of it being the perfect location. It has something for everyone. A shelter with tables, a semi private grassy area, a playground for the kiddos, the beach access, and a fire pit for Smores. All behind the backdrop ofnthe beautiful lighthouse and Harley Clark Mansion. Of course each (fire pit and shelter) has to be rented with a seperate permit and this is one of the more expensive park permits to get but...
