Dearborn Observatory — Attraction in Evanston Township

We waited two months for the Friday night guided tour and, of course, it was overcast and rainy (not the Observatory’s fault). They never checked our tickets which made us feel like we waited two months when we probably could have just shown up on any random Friday night and gotten in. The tour is run by students and was very dry and, unfortunately, boring without the ability to look through the telescope. They showed a lot of pictures on a small computer screen that were difficult to see and appeared to be pictures that one might gather from a simple Google search. Called to reserve no return call. Went to the 9 to 10 showing was in front of the line. Waited for them to set the scope n place, the viewing lens fell off while they were moving the scope from about 10 feet up. Then for about 20 minutes watched this girl position the scope n place. Right when we're about to finally see Juputer(only reason I'm here)we were told to let the kids go 1st. Other than 2 children the rest were high schoolers. Which apparentl means they all get in the front of the line as well. Was told told let the kids go first. I took our Cub Scout den last night and it was a GREAT experience. The weather didn’t cooperate so we weren’t able to look through the telescope, but the guides still made it fun and interactive.
