Fairmont has developed a wonderful riverside park on land that 60 years ago was one of the worst areas of our city. There is now a waterpark for the little kids, lots of park benches, several park benches, an amphitheater, nice accessible restrooms, and a series of sidewalks for wheelchair users, strollers, rollerskates, or for a relaxed walk. Thre grounds are nicely maintained. In the summer they have weekly events that are free! Palatine Park is a wonderful asset for Fairmont. There are boat docks, but I don't have a boat, nor do I know everyone with a boat, so I cannot report on that other than to say they have them. There is only one bad thing to say about Palatine Park: there is NO ACCESSABLE RAMP to get from the upper street level to the park itself. As a wheelchair user coming the from my nearby home, I have to be in the street until I am there. This is so stupid! Everything in the park is accessible, and if you park in the spacious parking lot, the accessibility is well thought out. Hopefully my meeting with the mayor will change that, but...

Palatine Park is a nice place in Fairmont for what they have done in the past 5 years. there is an ampitheater, public restrooms and lots of picnic tables. it was strange that I couldnt find a water fountain. also there is a sign that says no dogs. I dont own a dog, but it may be helpful to others. this park is mainly for events, it doesnt have swingsets and other play equipment. There is a small water park apparently that shoots water from the ground but no pool. there are also fixed grills where you can bring your own charcoal. final note, bring mosquito spray. It is down by the river and you could get bit...

A nice park! My family recently took part in the Marion County Geotour which brought us to this park. I’m originally from Clarksburg, but have never been to this park. I love when geocaching brings us to places we didn’t know existed! A great mural when you first pull in and a great view of the bridge! Pretty river area and info about an old bridge that once existed there. Would love to come back and check more of it out! Good for kid and kid’s birthdays! Dogs allowed. Amenities: Barbecue grill Picnic tables Public restroom Slides Swings *wheelchair accessible entrance and parking
