I visited the State Fair on Thursday 08/28/2025. At approximately 9:30 PM I visited the booth located at the West side of Underwood St. between Murphy & Lee Avenues. I am deeply disappointed in the treatment I received from the staff.
I am disabled and use a scooter. I requested a cup. I stated I’m disabled and have a disability accommodations request. I requested that they put the cup together like they usually do and then dump it into a bucket w a lid. I was told “absolutely not”, that I would need to buy a bucket. When I asked why, they stated “because of inventory purposes”. I then asked if they could put the cookies piled on top into a separate cup, again they said no and cited “because of inventory”. I asked if I paid for a bucket, then what would happen to all of those extra cookies that they pile on top? They told me all they could do is fill the bucket til the lid closed and that’s all I would get. At this point, the employee was displaying annoyance and irritation with me via their sharp tone, short words, and facial expressions. People behind me in line were getting annoyed. I started to feel embarrassed, frustrated, and dehumanized. I said fine, I’ll do the bucket. So I paid $24.77 for a bucket that they hastily filled part way, slapped the lid on, and shoved at me. They were reluctant to reach down over the counter to hand me things or take my card when I couldn’t reach them. They were making annoyed sighing and scoffing sounds. They were rushing me and speaking to me in a clipped and harsh tone.
This entire experience was incredibly frustrating, disappointing, and disheartening. Please train those who work your booths to better serve disabled individuals. And please re-think your policies regarding providing accommodations to disabled folks. Expecting us to pay the same price for much less than others get, simply because we can’t physically handle the poorly packaged overflow of product, is a very discriminatory...
Read moreI just went to kickoff to summer 2025, and the lady at the counter charged my debit card for two buckets of cookies when I gave her $20 in cash for one and was supposed to only charge $20 on my debit card. Now I can’t get ahold of anyone because there’s no customer service hotline. I get it was the first night, but you can’t play around with people’s money. Then when one of the lids for the cookie bucket dropped on the ground and I asked for a new one, the person helping me got upset that I asked for a new lid. He was about to put it back on the fresh made cookies like it was no big deal. He went to the counter, not realizing I was behind him, asking a lady if he could get a new lid or if she could just wipe it off the one that dropped so he could give it back to me! Seriously?! I work for a group home and one of the buckets was for them! Hence the paying separately and making sure they stayed sanitary! This was an awful experience.
I will edit my comment as someone later emailed me to correct the over charge, I do appreciate it, very much. I do believe some better training might be in order to make sure this doesn’t happen to others.
I must edit one final time, I do have to say that I was able to receive one last correspondence with someone from the company and I do appreciate that they read this and actually acknowledged this issue. I want to say “Thank You” and I will be changing the 2 star review to a three as they really did take my concerns into...
Read moreThe best cookies I have had. Worth the wait. As far as people complaining about the crowds"lines" around the building. There is nothing they can do. I have seen ropes put up trying to direct the traffic of people but they just get knocked down and we are back to the same thing. If you want this issue to stop then it is on everyone to try to keep a tight line and not cut in front of each other. That how fist fights get broken out in the crowd. As far as for the people complaining about the price, you don't have to buy the cookies. You choose to, so stop complaining saying they make enough money, and that they don't need to charge that much. The whole point of having a business is to make money. Worth the time in the crowd up to the stand and definitely worth the $17for a heeping...
