One of the best places to see the change of seasons. There's a lot of trails with ancient river trees and foliage and A LOT OF PEOPLE walking dogs, riding horses, and taking professional pictures. On the trail we took I saw what looked like a 30 - 45 lb. bobcat as tall as my small Husky. I also had my 130 lb Malimute Wolf mix and the bobcat didn't budge an inch when we made eye contact. It just sat there watching us as we walked by. It blended in perfectly. My hiking partner took the longest time to spot it sitting about 20 yards off the trail. Then she started to freak out because she's never seen any type of wild cat like that!!!...

If i want flat, mostly level trails to walk my older dog, I can stay along the Open Space route, or I can hike and dip into the Rio Grande State Park, or I can go off the formal trails and do trail running too. There's bridge overpass sections you can bush-whack to and find some pretty awesome graffiti. One small warning, there's a few hidden dangers. My dogs and I have come face to face with a few coyotes, and the occasional rattle snake. If you do head towards the overpasses, carry your dog or watch your step. There's broken glass and some times you see stuff like needles...
Read moreNice paved area within the city to walk and bike. Area felt safe as there were many people out utilizing trails. Good size paved parking area. 2 unisex bathrooms that are basically port a pots in a cement building. It seemed there might be several different trail heads but was difficult to know length or where to start. Paved bike path had signage if you understood its meaning. Still an enjoyable day and would go back again. Nice to hear birds and be near river/nature. ...
