Flint Community Players — Attraction in Flint Charter Township

Very disappointed with Imaginary Invalid. Many cast members "overacting" and yelling constantly, rather than just projecting their voice and only yelling at appropriate times. People cast as the "young lovers"- way to young to play the parts. The young girl needs to drop the childish hairstyle & outfit- she also needs to stop the excessive SCREAMING all the time. The maid, while posing as a male doctor, needed to change costumes to a pair of unisex pants and a shirt - with switching to a dark hat & easy to remove/ reapply mustache, to make the part seem believable. Also, she needs stop the constant screaming, and learn to project her voice- also drop the weird hairdo- distracting to say the least. I will say the guy playing the lead and the notary did do a good job, as did the wife. I was really looking forward to seeing a good comedy. I had friends visiting from out of town- treated them to tickets. Unfortunately we Only Laughed a couple of times- rest of the time they sat, looking bored. Afterward I apologized to them. BEWARE!! After a thorough search of their website and emails I received Friday evening, I saw no place mandating a mask during the play, therefore, my husband and I purchased tickets for their Saturday, Oct 23rd 7:30pm show.

To our surprise and disappointment when we arrived, we were told we had to keep masks on during the total show. I do not oppose companies mandating mask wearing, that is their prerogative.  But when it is not posted anywhere on their website, nor on the site where we purchased the tickets, not even on the door prior to walking inside, then it is wrong. We ended up having to walk right back out the door.  We have both been vaccinated and have asthma, therefore cannot wear a mask for that period of time. Had we known prior to purchasing the tickets of their mandate, we would not have done so.

We feel we were cheated by their non disclosure and are not happy about this, and the lady at the door was not friendly at all. Nor did they respond when I emailed them about this problem. We will not be supporting this community...

I've performed in a couple of shows here, as well as helped backstage and with hair/makeup a little for some shows. This is BY FAR the best theater I've ever had the pleasure of working with! I love them so much that I've started getting involved in some of the non-performance related events, like hosting informational tables at For-Mar and coming in to help paint the walls to make sure the space stays sharp for our audiences.
