Terrible experience playing golf here today. To begin with, the pro shop attendant who checked us in was rude and unprofessional. He was unwelcoming because we came in on a Golf Pass golf package, and we were not members. Then, out on the Wannamaker course on the 7th hole, we were harassed by a golf ranger who was pressuring us to play faster because we were 6 minutes behind their 4 hour pace of play policy. We politely told him we would do our best to pick up our pace of play. Then, on the very next hole, not more then 10 minutes later, another ranger who claimed to be one of the club golf professionals approached us from another direction and in a very aggressive and threatening manner yelled at us claiming we were backing up the entire course because we were still 6 minutes behind pace of play. I asked him nicely to let us enjoy our round of golf that we paid $100 for off-season mid day play and stop harrassing us. For the remainder of that hole, we had a ranger behind us and in front of us, continuing to pressure us and stalk us as if we were criminals. The golf professional ranger advised us not to stop at the water hydration station and told us to proceed directly to the 10th tee even though it was 95 degrees out and said this will be our last warning or we would be removed from the course because we were 6 minutes behind their pace of play policy. We were paired with a very nice husband and wife couple who chose to travel to PGA Golf Club to celebrate their 9th wedding anniversary and were both excellent golfers. In fact, the female golfer was a former collegiate level golfer. Totally unacceptable treatment by PGA Golf Club to non member paying guests. As a result, I personally, will never ever play here again and would advise others who are considering to play here to play somewhere else for a more enjoyable golf experience! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY...
Read moreThis is the second time in 10 years since our golf group stayed and played at this facility. We were not impressed by the way we were treated by the course staff. We were constantly rushed to the point of harassment by the marshals. No cart service or the refreshment stand available for the first two days. Suddenly the 3rd day services became available when another group showed up.
Our group travels around the country every year playing at some of the best facilities for the past 22 years. Our group ranges from 20-32 golfers each year. We fully understand golf etiquette as well as time of play.
We were treated well by the restaurant staff and they provided exceptional service.
We were told our clubs were being stored at no charge the first day, the second and third we were charged by individual staff.
We noticed the difference in services rendered on the 3rd day towards a larger and different group.
There were no housekeeping services provided the entire stay.
Totally different experience from 10 years ago. We are not excited about coming back and most of us have multiple residences in addition to Florida.
We are the...
Read more10/05/2022: We played the Wanamaker course again and it's still very beautiful even after the recent hurricane Ian. It looks like Ian didn't create too much trouble for the course. The greens are fine and run smooth although I would prefer the speed to be a little faster. The newly renovated range is absolutely awesome! The only course that we didn't try is the Ryder course and hope we can play it some time this year.
Circa Oct., 2021: It was our first time at the club and we played the Dye course. The conditions, the layouts, the scenery, etc. all deserve a great rating. Range is also a complimentary which is an added bonus. The Dye course is a semi-link style course which give you a combination of varieties like tree lines, long rough, marsh, water, deep bunkers, etc. With all these, the course is actually not that difficult as long as you strategically place your shots. Avoid get into the long roughs because you're unlikely to find your ball or get out of it. Anyway, it's a well-maintained and fun course. It's worth a 1.5 hr. drive since the course is quiet different from other...
