I visited several trail systems in and around the north Dallas area and this was the best set of trails I came across. Varying degrees of difficulty and multiple distance options. I rode loops #1-4, which are beginner to intermediate with only a few advanced sections. Loops #5-8 are for more experienced riders, from what I have heard and read.
I visited twice, starting from Simmons drive all the way to the Rockledge Dr. parking lot and back in this order - loops 2, 3 4 them loop 1 at the end - approximately 11 miles. Some areas of the trail are very hot due to lack of tree shade, especially during Texas summers. Also there are some sandy areas so don’t wipeout turning through those.
Excellent flow, mix of wide and narrow, shaded and open areas, singletrack, tight turns, bridges, creeks, couple of large rock drops and a couple of short, challenging climbs. Gorgeous scenery overlooking the water in multiple places. highly recommended.
DORBA’s site lists additional trails that I visited multiple times.

What started off as a dirt bike trail back in the day now is a great place for joggers Walkers and bikers.
This Trail is maintained by dorba. Please access dorba Trails by Googling it for the status of the trail. Please do not use the trail if closed, which usually happens after it has rained. Using the trail when it's wet causes undue stress for the local environment and also can rut the trail making it dangerous for people using it.
Also please be sure to leash your dogs on the trail that is a requirement and pick up waste.

Read moreI would like to rate it lower for one particular reason, the trail is only one way and for a casual walker a very long one way. There are very few intersecting points where you can cross back over to the other side. Another reason I would like to rate it a bit lower is because of some narrow sequence parts of the path where bike go down at a higher rate of speed along blind spots for the walker.
In would like to rate it lower but simply cannot. The trail is long, yes, but beautiful and well maintained and clean. The bikers were plentiful but nearly all perfect and courteous. This is a wonderful asset for our...
