Bumped my review up a bit.. After a few weeks and emails, we were contacted by cmfdl. They were very kind and friendly, and thanks to their generosity, we decided to give it another try. This time, we stayed for several hours and my son had a blast.
Original Review: We arrived at 10:15 only to find out there was an event going on. Because of that admission was $2 extra per person. What they didn't mention was that they were closing at 11. Hours were listed as normal and the event wasn't mentioned anywhere (website, Facebook, etc.). We paid extra to be kicked out 45 minutes later. They should have had these hours posted somewhere and they definitely should have mentioned this to us before we paid to enter. Our son was super sad and disappointed to leave so soon.
Being our first time here, I wasn't super impressed. There are some cool things to do and our kid had fun, but the museum in Appleton is worth the extra money and drive.
ETA: It is listed on their website, but not under the events on the homepage. Partly on me for not noticing there's another events section (Classes/Programs/Events) but they should have said they'd be closing in 45 minutes. We'd have gone elsewhere.
ETA2: Dropped to 1 star. I contacted them about the experience and didn't hear...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeautiful building and spacious. Friendly welcoming staff at front. Some of the exhibits needed touch ups such as paint or repairs and a few were not working. I was disappointed with the older unattended kids screaming and running around/rough housing, this negatively affected our family's experience. It would have been nice to have one or two of the three staffers posted at the front desk to be monitoring the happenings within the museum. I think the exhibits would be in better shape if the staff was more attentive. We went to the museum for a learning experience and unfortunately it wasn't that due to the other visitors (AKA parents who let their kids run wild while they are staring at their phones). We will try again though because there is a lot to see and explore. Loved the toddler reef room, definitely kids of all ages will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a smaller kids museum but it has all the things for children that are 1 year to 12/13 years old. The place is one level so no having to go up stairs and also there is an outside piece which can be used during all the different seasons which is really nice. The different activities change once in a while but they always have a big kids tunnel, slide and a baby/toddler play area. The staff is helpful and responsive if you need something. They have a craft area with coloring, cutting and crafts which is really nice. The last thing is that they have rooms you can rent and do activities in which is great. It really is a great place in Fond du Lac to do a...
