LilBearAdventures.com ~ Please like & share our reviews! Wheelchair accessible. All of the jetty and walkways are great for wheelchairs. Public bathrooms as well. Please keep eye on the coconut trees. ^ Cool feature about this park is the fosh bike rack with built-in pump. This park has the cleanest public restrooms & water fountains I have ever seen at a Florida coastal park. There is a fun Ft. Pierce pic zone at the very entry to the jetties. Great spot to fish but be careful. It is super easy to get hung up on the rocks when boats pass through. This jetty can be dangerous for small kids. There is a small beach area near the jetties for them to play at though. There are shady seats everywhere and a place to clean any fish caught. Try not to let the pelicans get any leftovers. They are pretty agressive birds. There are warning signs about feeding them. (The water is often tested due to the Okechobee River issues from a few years back.) Our family loved this spot and met some amazing locals. If you want to have a lazy chill day, this is the perfect place for you! The Jetty Park is usually open from sunrise to sunset but they don't tend to enforce the sunset time for people fishing on the jetty from what we heard. If I had to describe this place in a few words I would say, fun in the sun, family friendly with a Key West feel. Hope you get some time to bask in the goodness of Florida...
Read moreI learned what a no-see-um was today. A no-see-um (also called sandfly, punkie, or biting midge) is a tiny biting insect, often 1–3 mm long, so small that they’re hard to spot with the naked eye — hence the name.
Key Facts:
Where they live: Warm, humid, or coastal areas, especially near marshes, beaches, lakes, and wetlands. When they bite: Most active at dawn and dusk, though they can bite anytime if conditions are right. The bite: Even though they’re tiny, their bites can be painful and very itchy, sometimes worse than mosquito bites. Why they bite: Female no-see-ums need blood to produce eggs, while males feed mostly on nectar. Prevention: They can slip through normal window screens, so people often use finer mesh screens, repellents containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus, and...
Read moreI love going to the Jetty. We go about 2xs a week sometimes more. The sunrises and sunsets are phenomenal. Maybe thats why Fort Pierce is named the "Sunrise City." Walking further down the jetty, I wanted to see if the huge sargassam of seaweed had effected the beach at all. It had been cleaned up. I was relieved. Last year, 2022, the sargassam was horrible. Happy to see its been removed. Other beaches, in St Lucie County it is still lingering. But, being a local, I would not swim at the Jetty Park Beach. Theres plenty of other beaches in FP. Jetty Park is a great location for hanging out, grabbing a frozen rum runner, swinging in the swings and eating food. People watching...checking out the out of...
