My husband and I toured the Annie Riggs Museum. She was the wife of my 8th cousin (four times removed), Barney Riggs. Barney was both a gunslinger and a deputy, working both sides of the law, not uncommon in the Wild West. The museum was wonderful and had the sweetest little doggy watching over it (she stole my heart).

Very nice collection. A few of the rooms are very dusty/musty and some might struggle to breathe in those rooms.

The collections are laid out nicely and the kitchen makes me wish I had the space to collect such antiques. My great-grandmother still used some of those types of items when I was little, so sweetly nostalgic.

We love Ft. Stockton and the people we...

What a wonderful local museum! The price is right at $3 per adult and the friendly staff are happy to have you and very helpful. It's quite an interesting history of not only Annie Riggs, but the local area. They've done an exceptional job of restoring the antiquated adobe building, which used to be a hotel. There are quite a few rooms to visit with a separate focus in each and placards which give you a succinct and informative history of that focus. The wide surrounding porch is a nice place to sit and relax or perhaps picnic. We spent over an hour though you could easily spend twice that much time. Kudos to the Fort Stockton Historical Society for the job...

This was a pretty cool little museum. It was formerly a hotel among many other things. The owner and proprietor who ran it for many years I have an Anne Riggs was quite a person. As you go from room to room you'll learn a whole lot about the history of the area, how the trains came where Oil was discovered who started the town and it's important in Texas history. All that from one little museum - that's really a mouthful. Nice place, and the t-shirts are pretty nice as well! I definitely recommend it as long as you're in Fort Stockton you may as well go here in addition to wherever else...

Really beautiful hotel in manicured setting. Blooming desert willows and dusty footprints by the porch. We sat a while to enjoy the breeze. Inside, $5 fee, nice women working. Lots of antique items. Kitchen stuff was fascinating. Spend an hour or two, learn about Ft. Stockton in Pioneer times.

Absolutely awsome, seeing all the history and the original adobe structure prompted me to build adobe. And the staff was very polite. We have several small children and they were more than welcomed. Even proposed to my wife here.
