Sigh, The highlight of the place was the staff. The exhibits were OK with nothing outstanding. I travel a lot and visit numerous military museums - see my profile. Not sure if this museum was a check in the block for Ft Carson or is just underfunded but most of the stuff seemed canned and possibly not researched. I bet some of the old veterans would be glad to help with maintenance and upkeep of the vehicles on display. The whole we paint everything the same and fake bumper numbers on the display vehicles, is just an indication of the lack of attention...
Read moreI worked here for a short time in 2014 during my PCS to fort Irwin, and was my last duty of fort carson. I loved all of the different eras covered in the collection, but still the coolest part for me was the fact that they have Saddam's spider hole cover on display from his capture. If you haven't been, stop by and get a dose of history. It also features a complete history of the beginnings of the 10th mountain division before they left for new York, and the story of the fort carson hospital in all of it's incarnations...

The Museum is self guided but I was fortunate to get a guided tour that brought the artifacts to life. Some of the many highlights are the Liscum Bowl, Saddam's cash box and spider hole cover.
