Atmosphere was the best part...but service was terrible. Waiter declared he was new and had not tried any of the food to make recommendations. Requests for anything needed two and three tries. Food was average, pricey, and the 20% service charge was undeclared until the bill was delivered to the table before asking if we wanted anything else and before even completing the meal. Not a fine dining experience! Also...don't let the advertised 20 minute walk from the park entrance to restaurant fool you. Sneaker up...it's a long walk after they hit you up for the additional $20 Entrance Fee per person just to have access to the walk to the restaurant. The entrance fee should definitely be credited to the meal. All of this probably explains why the restaurant on a Saturday night was half full. Some improvements could make it a 5 Star experience. They definitely are depending on a cash grab from one-time...

The Falls were beautiful, but if you are going to eat here, I wish you the best. We love the Broadmoor but this place was a disaster. If you want to experience eating inside an igloo you might enjoy some part of it. The food is not worth the price at all. Nothing was cooked throughly…my risotto was still crunchy. My mom’s “well-done” burger was still mooing at us (not just a little pink). Servers were very rude. Finally, we understand it’s a walking park, but when the ground is icy and it’s dark with freezing weather, please don’t lie to us and say we will get you a ride and then act confused when nothing comes 30min later. Just say it to my face so we can get it over with and take the struggle bus back home or to the hospital after I break my coccyx. And to be honest, you should not have to walk 20-30 min if you are paying $100-$200 for food. Let’s make things...

Our dinner reservations were at 5 pm, my party and I arrived only 10 minutes before and a lady, we presume to be the manager was extremely rude when we were asking if it was okay we arrived a little earlier. She inclined to gives us seating, but rudely added that it might take them longer because they needed to arrange seating for the number of guests in my party (6). Not to mention, after a majority of my party got their food after 40 minutes, our server came around and informed us that the other dish was handed out elsewhere in the restaurant. Our server came around and offered us a new plate, but by then, everyone else was finished. Our server was excellent very friendly and apologetic on the behalf of the kitchen several times for the mix up. We will not be recommending 1885 to friends and family, my experience...

The rushing falls around the restaurant and the interior design was amazing, it is down hill from there. The location is the only appealing thing about this place, I would recommend just going to see the falls and not dine here. Some of the restaurant staff was great the others not so much. Our drinks were often empty, so was our neighboring tables. Was handed the check after the main course, without asking if we wanted dessert, bill was incorrect, other staff were pointing at us. Overall I would not recommend this establishment, especially for the price tag is not even remotely worth the value. Go to the falls for a day trip, save your money and go a nice steakhouse afterwards for a good value.

Nestled at the base of Seven Falls, 1858 provided a much welcomed reprieve from the 244 stairs summit descent. Although we were 40 mins early for our reservation, we were promptly seated. Our fantastic waiter, Sean, patiently helped us sort through the bevy of house cocktails and menu options. We decided to go with the brussel sprouts appetizer. My wife ordered the quinoa bowl and I went with the bison burger. The quinoa bowl was very light yet flavorful while the bison burger was insanely juicy (most bison that I've had wasn't). Note, the restaurant is part of the Broadmoor resort so a 20% service fee was automatically added to the bill.

It was a beautiful restaurant and location. Everything was overpriced for the quality. But that's what you get when it's the only restaurant there. There was a 20% service charge on the bill which seemed like the waiters didn't want to be as present or helpful because it was an automatic charge. The food was good and we were happy with the flavor. The drinks were good too. But once again, everything was highly overpriced. It was a good one time stop to eat. If we went back to Seven Falls, we probably would eat before arriving or stop somewhere after leaving.
