This place was amazing and most of the staff were very nice. This one particular staff member named Jenny was very rude and felt like she was racist because of everything that was said and how we and other were treated. We went there with family and we had kids with us. The hole is less than a mile but they do offer shuttle and golf carts to take you to and from the falls. There was a group in front of us that asked Jenny if they can catch a ride and she said sure that she will swing back around once she drops off the other people. When she came back around I asked her if we can catch a ride because my 6yr old couldn’t walk anymore. She proceeds to tell me that kids are not allowed on it and that it’s only for disabled. Mind you all the rides she had given were very fit and young guests that could clearly walk and there were kids on the transport as well. Then I noticed all the guests that were on all the transports were of no color. When we finally got to the top we asked another member and they said the line is outside of the gift shop and that yes you can take transport down. So we get in line so our children can go even if it was with one adult we all didn’t need to go. We were ok walking back to the entrance. Then while we are all in line and mind you there was a group ahead of us with 4 kids of all ages and a parent they were able to get on because the kids couldn’t walk anymore. When it came to our turn Jenny again who appeared mentioned we can not get on the transport. We questioned her and she said no. We even told her about the other guests that are going to and from the falls and we don’t understand if you have that amenity why is it only for a certain type or group of people. No where I. The rules did it state anything or have anything posted. We even talked to other staff members and they knew right away who we were filing a complaint about. The place was amazing but that one staff member Jenny made it to where we don’t want to come back or tell anyone to go there because she was very rude and was very judgmental and didn’t care to help people of color. We took pictures of all the carts going by of people that were being transported to and from the falls and the main gate entrance. Anyways this place is amazing but be prepared to not get any help if you’re unable to make the walk or if...
Read moreIt’s been many years since visiting here. We live in Colorado Springs. When I visited previously we were able to park near the entrance. That has certainly changed. We selected a time on the website and purchased tickets. We were instructed to drive to Penrose Stadium to catch a free shuttle bus. Sounds simple enough. The shuttles were all pulling away once we arrived. We got checked in and waited for the next set of shuttles. As we waited, many more people arrived. Not many options for shade and no options to sit. It was not clear where we should stand to ensure we would make it on one of the shuttles. The shuttle arrived about 20 minutes later. A huge bus came so we were able to make it on. Once we arrived at the falls entrance we were not directed where to go so people were just wondering around. Finally a girl directed us to pass the extremely long line that was waiting to return to Penrose. Red flag popped up in my mind right away. It was quite a trek up to the falls area which I didn’t mind. Make sure you bring water. We had gotten low on water so stopped at the little store and purchased two small expensive aluminum bottles that were not cold. My husband cut his finger trying to open the bottle of water. They do not have water refill stations which they really should especially for non-natives. Took the elevator up to the falls and walked down the steps. Headed back to the entrance. As we were walking down the hill, many golf carts passed us full of able bodied people who coincidently ended up in the return shuttle line way ahead of us. We waited almost an hour for a return shuttle. It was hot and only a few sitting options. We had no choice but to wait. We were stuck. I would have preferred walking to our car if it had not been parked 5 miles away. This experience made me sad. As others have suggested, go to Helen Hunt Falls or Garden of the Gods. Free and such a...
Read moreNice place to visit for a few hours if you want to see some spectacular rock scenery and take some amazing pictures. Seems that there are other activities, like sliding hanging on a cable from one pick to another at a extreme high altitude, If feeling adventurous (not for me, thank you). The place have transportation and an elevator if you can't walk or climb (walk up) the steps to get to the top. The place has some concessionaires along the way and a restaurant. Very nice, however there are some things you need to keep in mind; parking is kind of far and there is a shuttle that takes you from the parking to the place (included in the admission price). If you are visiting for the first time, make sure to know where is this parking (believe is call 4 lakes, but I am trying to remember and this may not be correct). Get something to eat before you get there and take some bottles of water with you. Once inside it is like been in an airport; the market forces that dictate prices are suspended and you may find the prices to be in the high side (or probably for some not that much...). Once you take your pictures, I did not find much to do. You can leave and come back at night to see the falls light up.... but I do not think it is a whole day affair, probably 3 hours top. There are some museums, the zoo, and a train place where the parking lot is at (but probably you want to visit those in a separate occassion). There is also a nice trail that takes you to a fall very close from 7 falls (this one is for free courtesy of Colorado Springs I believe). You can get a map in a visitors center and it has a nice parking very close from the visitors center). Dress accordingly and prepare because it is a long walk! But, even if you do not make it to see the fall (I think the area is call Cheyenne falls, again may not be exact), the walk is very nice (stay in the big...
