There are a couple of ways you can experience this trail; by itself; where it is 1.8 miles, with an elevation gain of 357 feet, and plan on 1-2 hours, or as a combination hike with Navajo Loop Trail, where it is nearly 3 miles, with an elevation gain of 600 feet. You should plan on 2-3 hours for the combination. This combination is the most popular hike in the park. Wear good shoes. The slope can be slippery when the gravel moves under one's feet. Also have sun protection and lots of water. The rocks hold in the heat and brightness of the sun, so it gets warmer than you'd expect. There is little breeze, as you are under the rim as you start down, and not much shade. Be watchful of the clouds. Rain can move in quickly and there is little protection from lightening. The trail is small gravel pieces and it is wide and well maintained. We went only as far as the first level spot due to the heat and time factors. Being under the rim gives a whole new perspective to the Amphitheater. You can find the trail head near Sunrise Point for Queen's Garden and Sunset Point for the...
Read moreQueen’s Garden Trail is Bryce Canyon National Park at its most enchanting. This hike feels like wandering through a natural sculpture garden, with every turn revealing new hoodoos and formations that look almost too whimsical to be real. The trail is considered one of the easiest descents into the canyon, but don’t let that fool you; it’s packed with beauty and wonder from start to finish.
Walking down into the amphitheater, you’re surrounded by these intricate spires and arches that feel straight out of a fantasy world. The highlight, of course, is the formation known as Queen Victoria, which really does look like a regal figure watching over her garden.
What makes Queen’s Garden so special is how approachable it is; families, casual hikers, and adventurers alike can enjoy it. Pairing it with the Navajo Trail creates an unforgettable loop that gives you both intimacy with the hoodoos and sweeping views from the rim.
If you want a hike that’s accessible, magical, and captures the spirit of Bryce Canyon, Queen’s Garden is the...
Read moreThe Queen's Garden Trail connects to Navajo Loop Trail. Park near Sunset Point, hike down into the canyon, turn left on on the trail to connect with Queen's Garden which you'll follow up to Sunrise Point. From there you'll walk along the Rim Trail back to the parking lot at Sunset Point. This route took our family of four about 2 hours.
This trail has a steep decent and ascent. The soil is loose which makes it easy to slip on the way down. Very fun and adventurous for older kids and teens!
Parking tends to fill up during peak times so arrive early or plan on circling around until something opens up. Real restrooms and a water filling station are available.
My last tip would be to take a park map with you or study the map carefully before your descent. The markers are worn and basically unreadable. There was a lot of confusion at the area where you see "the Queen." There's a little there-and-back trail that shoots off the loop that's not really visible on googlemaps. People were visibly confused about...
