We have NEVER been more dissatisfied with a company ever. Working with Upack made our move an absolute nightmare and due to a LIFE ALTERING error their computer system made, we really weren’t sure we’d be able to move at all. We ended up paying $1500 more than we were originally quoted, due to scrambling to get another pod, hiring additional movers due to your error.
We scheduled cubes for our move from Denver to NC.I called and confirmed the reservation on the phone and spoke with a human, who assured me 2 Relocubes would be enough for our two bedroom apartment (1200 Sq ft.). Nobody did any type of walk through for an accurate estimate. Our cubes were supposed to arrive between 8 a.m and 12 p.m. We made sure there were places they could be parked, set out cones, and waited. Mind you- we have movers coming the next day and we are OUT OF OUR APARTMENT that Monday, July 17, with flights booked to our new state. As of Monday we have nowhere to live. There is very little room for error. When our “Relocubes” didn't arrive. I called to confirm and was informed our RESERVATION HAD BEEN CANCELED. For some reason, when I went in to add my billing information two days before our delivery date, it CANCELED the entire reservation. I was receiving updates, confirmations, could manage the move using their dashboard, and received ZERO communications that they had been canceled.
One of the worst things about this company is the lack of any sense of urgency all of their staff have. After three extremely frustrated phone calls, finally the woman called me back, and agreed their system had made a terrible error, and told me Denver was the only service center that delivered on weekends and they could get me the pods the following day. The movers filled the two cubes, and about ONE THIRD of our apartment was left. AND this was AFTER we had gotten rid of several pieces of furniture including a mattress and a bed, so technically we didn’t even have the furniture of a two bedroom. THEY ARE SMALL. NOW We have two cubes filled, a bunch of stuff left in our apartment and our movers can’t come back on Sunday. I call UPack, and request another cube be delivered the following day. For another $1,250- which was NOT what we budgeted for- being assured the two cubes would be adequate. AND now we have to scramble to find MORE movers that can help at a moments’ notice.
Having been told the cube delivery occurred “in the morning- between 8-12,” I hired a mover to come at 1 pm, figuring that would be late enough that the final cube would’ve been delivered. NOPE. Once again. There was ZERO sense of urgency, and the person we hired ended up sitting around for an hour before the cube even arrived, and ended up staying longer than his designated period due to the delayed delivery. Whenever I called and asked for an update, I was given vague answers like “after lunch….” The next day, we fly to North Carolina, and as soon as we land, I see I have a voicemail and see THEY DELIVERED ANOTHER CUBE INSTEAD OF PICKING UP OUR THREE THAT WERE PACKED. On Tuesday the pods had STILL not been picked up. NOW there were FOUR pods, at a property I NO LONGER lived at.. As the end of the day neared, I called the Denver pick up center to ask when the pods would be picked up, and was told by a VERY rude woman, “YOU ARE ON THE BOOKS, WE HAVE UNTIL FIVE.”
They were delivered with no issue, and once we unloaded them, I called immediately to request they be picked up on Monday 7/31. Monday came and went and the pods were still there. I have absolutely no idea why they tell you to schedule a time, when Upack literally operates on their own schedule with no respect for the customer. I got a measly $250 back after spending a month trying to get this company to take any accountability.
Due to the critical system error, we had to completely rearrange our move, and there was zero accountability or concern for our time and huge life change. I will be warning all of my friends and family NOT to use...
Read moreMy moving experience with U-Pack was exceptional, and that is not an overstatement. I had to coordinate a move out of our childhood home and shipping containers to two different states (from a different state of origin), a process that took 2 months to complete because of needing to stage the process (I stored the cubes for one month at a U-Pack affiliated facility, all included in my original price quote). U-Pack made a stressful circumstance easy and efficient, with the right amount of compassion and "know how" and at an unbeatable price. So much so, I kept asking them at different points if I would end up owing more. Nope! The prices to move and store the containers until we were ready to receive them cubes was one price and one price only. Such an affordable way to get your move done. I asked them to recommend movers and there U-Pack was on the ball again. I hired movers in two different states and they were courteous, efficient and worth the peace of mind they provided. I felt as though the U-Pack personel and the Moving Staffers were invested in taking care of me and my family at one of the most stressful time in our lives. I felt totally comfortable just leaving the work and coordination in their very capable hands. I loved that I only have to pay for the cubes I used and that I was able to keep them longer to load without any additional charge. The small cubes did the job nicely and are really large. Customer service was clear and answered my questions as well as gave insight into how to make my moving and storage work. The "one stop shop" made them the best option for me. The low-budget does not mean low quality service--quite the opposite!! Some of the quotes I got from other companies were all above $10,000 and had a lot of transport restrictions. U-Pack offered the flexibility I needed without piecemeal charges. One and done--and that never changed. I am recommending them to family and friends alike. Because of their cost effectiveness it was cheaper in time and money to go with U-Pack than to do it myself and to corral family and friends to help. Also, they were respectful of my time and I got my cubes early, for when I had them packed and unpacked. I will certainly be using them in the future. Gift yourself time and peace of mind-go...
Read moreExtremely impressed with this company, end to end. Price was competitive, particularly when considering insurance costs on moving trucks. Communication was excellent all the way through (and not too much); flexibility and explanations of service were readily available and clear.
We moved a two bedroom apartment from Raleigh to Denver without a ton of furniture but with about sixty five boxes in two pods, one full to the ceiling, the other pretty full. The only tough part of the experience was doing the packing and the load securing. You’re not getting as much space for the price, so stuff has to get stacked higher, and you can’t check the load in transit. Allocate an extra hour or two to get the load put in right, and another hour or two to make sure it’s secured.
That work pays off though, as you leisurely drive across the country in your car while your stuff is moved for you. Ours arrived with no damage, opened it up be it looked just like we packed it. Did follow the advice to put a mattress in front of the door. The above is the only downside; now, the upside:
-Getting a quote was easy -Able to talk about quote on phone and wasn’t pressured to sign -price competitive when considering gas for a moving truck and insurance, which you really need -pods delivered on a Wednesday, scheduled for a four hour block of time (12-4), got a phone call with forty minutes of notice, done by 1:15 -get to keep pods for three business days-that meant pickup on Monday -dispatchers answered right away -text message with tracking info. Didn't have to be there for pods to be picked up -pods arrived in Denver Friday, received notification -called Monday to scheduled delivery on Tuesday. Window was 8-5, would get a call with an hour's notice -received call at 7:45am, pods delivered at 8:30 -stuff in great shape, easy to unload -called in afternoon, pods picked up without us there next day
So, very smooth process. Only other caveat-we checked with apartment and HOA to make sure we could keep pods-that could be an issue. Two fit comfortably in one parking spot with room for doors to our open and for us to unload.
Keep up...
