Sadly, I can't give 5 stars.

In the past, I've had good expetienced at this park and there are still many lovely people that come here with their dogs. However, in the past year, there have been many people that come here that do not respect the rules of the park like picking up after your dog, and ther are also owners that struggle to control their dogs around other dogs and their owners. You should never come here and have to worry about your or your dogs safety, but unfortunately that has been a concern of mine on a occasion. At one point I stopped coming to the park because there was dog poop all over the place because of reckless owners that I was consistently stepping in every time I went. Many new owners are simply far too disrespectful, unfortunately.

I also want to add that I have actually called the police about one dog and owner in particular. He has started to come somewhat often. He does not pick up after his dog, he does not have control over his dog, and this behavior has lead to several almost violent outbursts and arguments in the park.

I've been coming here for a while and I've slowly noticed more and more reckless owners and out of control dogs in attendance that have really put this place on the decline. Twice now, I've had to rush to close a gate because dogs would almost escape because clueless people will leave both gates wide open. It's honestly outrageous and really disappointing considering how nice this...

Largest dog park I have ever been to. I’ve spoken with people there who come from as far as an hour away in NJ as well as Staten Island which between traffic and tolls says something about the quality of the dog parks on that island.

The only con is that there are a small percentage of people without common sense who bring food for themselves and eat there. There are dogs all over the place and it always is guaranteed to cause problems when it is fairly busy.

There are also sadly a few people who bring problem dogs there who don’t appear well socialized with other dogs.

One intoxicated lady even left her awesome friendly dog there one night. The husband was pissed. Luckily there were a few good samaritans who took the dog home for the night. Dog was reunited with owner the next day. I suspect divorce proceedings commenced...

12/21 —Our dogs love this park. Ample room for dogs to run & play. There are usually plenty of dogs & dog owners there, which helps socialize my pups. Most people who come here are super nice... though there are a few rude rotten apples who pop in from time to time. Plenty of poop bag stations. I wish there were a few extra picnic benches and a spicket for water. Sad that half of the "large dog" section is closed for the season for renovations... I'm not sure what could possibly need to be renovated as it's only grass and a couple of picnic tables in there.

Update 2/2022 — the front dog park is still closed and the back park is an absolute mud pit! A little mud is to be expected but every inch of this space is wet slop. Taking away a star because we all come home covered head to toe in mud. See...

If you're a dog owner in search of a great park to visit with your furry friend, I highly recommend checking out this dog park. Not only is it a fantastic place to unleash your dog and let them stretch their legs, but it's also a beautiful. I recommend bringing a plenty of water for both you and your dog. That is a part of large park, so you can easily continue your walk or outdoor after spending some time in the dog park. I highly recommend checking out this dog park if you're in the area.

My dog absolutely loves this place. We had a dog park where we used to live in Staten Island at Silver Lake. It was about 1/8 size of this on a good day and he still loved that one too so you can imagine how much he is a fan of this one. The amount of space they have set aside here for the dogs is fantastic. Nice people and nice dogs from what I have experienced so far.

Colonial Dog Park is a fantastic place for responsible dog owners to take their pups! It's a nice community of conscientious pet parents who are vigilant about their dogs' behaviors and all want to create a positive environment for the pups. It has been very welcoming and a great place for my pup to get out some energy, or to just lounge on the tables.
