Colonial Park has grown over the years and is a really nice park! The perennial garden is one of my favorite spots in the park. Park in the dedicated lot or walk from another part of the park to get to the gardens. There are places within this part of the park to sit (many benches) and just outside of the garden area there are many open spaces where I see people picnicking or laying out or walking or having fun. I don’t think I would bring my kids here just for the flowers, but it would be a real winner of a visit in combination with a picnic or visiting the rest of the park. They have a water spray area for hot days, a big playground, paddle boats on the lake, mini golf (I think this is the only thing that costs money here) and more for families. There are lots of opportunities to explore nature here, especially bird watching along the lake and river, fishing, hiking,...
