Our favor family playground. As a parent to a special needs toddler. (Autism & mild cerebral palsy) 💚 We absolutely adore McKinley. The adaptive swings in particular are her favorite! She is a very large girl for 4 years old and being special needs she cannot hold her balance on a regular swing yet either so the adaptive swings here at McKinley have been a life saver for us when it comes to playground play!! The open concept of the playground allows to to perfectly get her wagon or new adaptive stroller through the playground. There is just so much more to see as this adorable 🥰 little park. From the airplane✈️ play structure to fire truck 🚒 down to the AAC board to help families navigate the playground together. McKinley Barrier free park has everything a special needs family is looking for even if it's just a simple nature walk with...

I mean, the kids are going to have fun because it is a playground. I probably won't go here again. The comments saying it is a clean park, I believe are wrong. We have been to tons of kids parks with playgrounds in surrounding cities and while the spaceship playset was new to me and pretty cool, wasn't that big. There was trash in a bunch of areas. And the sand pit was not organized and clean, it had a bunch of the sand onto the turf areas. And people seem to leave their old toys scattered around. There were also a bunch of condom materials throughout the park. From boxes in the parking lot to wrappers in the grass. Makes sense because the park is located literally right in a condo or apartment area, does not seem to be cleaned after.

It could be nice if it was kept up. It will most likely be my first and last trip...

I recently had my son's 5th Birthday there, while the park itself is a nice place the pavilion was very disappointing. The picnic tables were filthy, the water bottle station was clogged and piled with sand. The bathrooms were embarrassingly dirty for my guest and not to mention the amount of bees that swarmed the area from the leftover spilled drinks and food from previous parties. While I do know this is a park for $100-$125 rental fee it in my opinion needs to be cleaned and stocked on weekly basis for parties that they have EVERY WEEKEND. Also when you rent it you have it all day, my party started at 1 and we were done by 3 and rushed out because of the bees. Everyone was standing outside of the pavilion to eat and hang out due to this. 10 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND...

I randomly found this park on Google maps, and I'm SO GLAD I did! It's absolutely wonderful that a playground exists like this that's accessible to kids and parents with different needs. A wheelchair can easily fit up the ramps of the play structure, the swings are inclusive, and I really just loved the design of the entire place! Astroturf and padded grounds which takes away so much anxiety for kids falling and getting scraped up. There are walking paths and Little Libraries to find a book (and leave some!). We will be back soon and will be telling others about this lovely space!

The former Grant Park has been reborn as McKinley Barrier Free park. As an airport themed park, paying Tribute to Frasers former airport McKinley ( southwest corner of 15 /Utica where Meijer sits) Bless the kind folks who had a vision to serve the community at large. Nice playscape Fire Dept. Theme. Soft surface if anyone falls 2 bathrooms Pavillion Nice walking path 4 lil libraries Hill to run or sled on. Several memorial benches
