Confusion. That's the best word I can use to describe this place. The date on our receipt within the follow up directions showing when we were supposed to return for our vaccine booster was different from another set of specific directions printed on the same receipt. They said it was a simple mistake in their system and the allotted time mentioned in the specific directions was inaccurate. I should mention that neither time frame on my receipt matched the directions provided by the CDC regarding the proper booster follow up time frame for this vaccine. Valley Animal Center staff explained this otherwise HUGE discrepancy by claiming to follow the time frame provided by the vaccine manufacturer. That's logical. I'd be okay with that after confirming with my regular vet that is in fact a thing. HOWEVER!!! I called the manufacturer just to be safe as I had little confidence in VAC staff at this point. The vaccine manufacture explained their procedure regarding the booster time frame and guess what? The date they provided me didn't match EITHER date listed on the VAC receipt. When I called VAC about the discrepancy, they said that they made a mistake on that but have since corrected and it won't be a problem moving forward. That's fine and all but I had to find out on my own when I was actually supposed to take my dog back for the booster and only after spending a few days days trying to obtain contact information for the makers of this vaccine. Why in the world would they not let me know both of the dates on my receipt were wrong when they allegedly discovered and "fixed" the problem 8 whole days before I called them on it? Accidents and mistakes happen and I'm very understanding. However, "mistake" is no longer a remotely accurate word used to describe this many mistakes of the same nature on the same subject, witnessed by the same person, on the first and only transaction I've experienced (aside from the dog park application which I don't count because they're technically separate entities where the idiot dog park manager who used her personal poorly mannered aggressive dog to perform the pre-admission "aggression test" on my dog where I asked, why she sat quietly and just allowed her dog to be aggressive toward mine with very aggressive posture and scary growling go unchecked by her and setting the worst example in history the she said, "I can't hold it against my dog for acting this way after performing this test 10 times a day where the aggression is usually coming from the dog being tested, he's just frustrated and I don't blame him" ) YES! THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! I'll never use their vet service again regardless of the convenience of...
Read morePLEASE read before going to Valley Animal Center. . First off, this place is impossible to get in touch with as they never pick up and take forever to call back. More importantly these vets are outdated and borderline incompetent. I took my dog there for simple, yet common, atopic dermatitis. , she prescribed my dog the very hepatotoxic oral anti fungal ketoconazole for itchy paws! Mind you, we hadn’t tried topicals and SHE WENT straight to this old hepatotoxic ketoconazole!
Then, after trying both Apoquel and cytopoint (for itching), I was hoping to transition to the more effective Zenrelia. This med has been out for almost 2 years but was stunned to hear the vet never heard of it and had to look it up! My dog is 31 lbs and dosing for Zenrelia is 1.5 tabs (one-and-half tabs) of 6.4mg for dogs 31-39 lb. But after pricing the med, I realized the lower doses (4.8mg & 6.4mg) Zenrelia are much more expensive (tab for tab) then the higher doses. So Zenrelia at 1.5 tabs of 6.4mg would cost me $85 a month. GET THIS! The 15mg is only $45, so pill splitting into 7.5mg x2 would only cost me $22 a month. Remember, if my dog was one pound less, he would be at 8mg dose per day and pill splitting the 15mg (7.5mg x 2) would only be $22 month (not $85)!! So when I called and explained the cost difference (Costco Rx), the tech had to call me back and then said “because the vet was not familiar with the medication, she doesn’t want to underdose”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! We’re NOT OVERDOSING! Remember my dog was on the cusp of that dose and could respond to very slightly lower dose but MOST IMPORTANTLY IT WOULD SAVED ME ALMOST 70% IN COST!!! THESE VETS ARE INCOMPETENT, CANT THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX AND HAVE NO COMPASSION FOR THE COST AND BUDGET A FAMILY MIGHT BE ON. STAY AWAY!
I called another local vet, explained the situation and they were shocked at the resistance from a...
Read moreI used to think very highly animal center until yesterday when I went to pick up my dog from the groomer and it was the worst haircut I've ever seen because too close it's uneven I'm worried about him getting sunburn now his undercarriage they cut so close by his thing that it's red and irritated he's acting funny he said the appointment was at 10:30 I pick him up at 3:00 the little dog behind the desk was getting aggressive. I feel horrible that I took my dog there I don't know what he went through he's sad and his hair is awful what there is of it it makes me wonder about the rest of the valley animal center now because they allow that as part of their service I'm so disappointed and so sad for my baby boy and I'm not saying this Larissa yet it seems the girl does the cutting in the hair off and I guess I don't know maybe the groomer comes and does a trimming around the face which was not done well at all or the tail and I'm wondering if you got hurt or are they aggressive with them I don't know he's acting really funny so my heads up anybody and I'm really upset with myself that I took a chance I'll never do it again and there's nothing they can do to fix it cuz you can't make my dog okay again or undo whatever was done to him or make him sit in a damn cage for 5 hours it makes it look like the only two 10 or 15 minutes to do his hair in time he'll recover I'm beside myself I am upset I want to come and watch and see how you really do do it what did you do how did you do it for to my dog I saw a couple people come walking in real slow all with some kind of fast food or whatever they weren't very nice but yet they went into the employee area I'm telling you I'm really upset that you didn't care about my dog and I'm not done letting you know I'm going to come in and talk to you about it and ask you why were you so...
