I love this place. Every time my husband I come in here, we leave with at least a few goodies minimum.
However, our last visit was unpleasant. One of the workers kept following us around and staring daggers at us because I guess she thought we were attempting to steal? We had items in our both of our hands and I thought maybe she was going to ask us if we wanted to hold the items behind the counter. Which I understand is the norm. What she did though, was follow us around for several minutes, eyeing us, not saying anything. Eventually she snuck up behind us and awkwardly said that we could hold our items up front and she would bring us a ticket. Okay, fine.
We go to check out at the register and the same woman is standing there, just staring at us while the other clerk wrapped and rang up our items. The vibe was very strange, almost bordering on hostile. Like, they were dying for us to get out of the store. My husband and I were really put off and confused. We had never experienced this here before.
I really, really hope this interaction didn’t have something to do with us being a mixed race couple.
The clerk who made us feel so uncomfortable is the woman with the longer...

I just found out about this place last weekend, and I will be returning often. This is not set up like your average antique store. When you go to some places it is so crowded/cluttered it makes it hard to really get a good look at the items, but that is not the case here.
Everything is displayed very well, and it seems like every time you turn around there is another room to explore. Each vendor has their own style in displaying their items, and it is all done very well.
As an added bonus there is a coffee shop in here called The Clapping Monkey. I love coffee, and I love monkeys...so win-win!!
On a personal note, I found (and bought) a ceramic tile here that I was pleasantly surprised to come across was that was from the company that my dads uncle Arthur Berggren had owned (he started it in 1948, and sold the company in 1986).
This place is an absolute MUST stop!! There is so much here, there is not way you are going to leave empty handed. There is something here (if not many things)...
Read moreI stumbled into this place on a recent visit to the Twin Cities. Wow! I cannot think of a better place to find vintage, mid-century decor and collectibles. The owners and vendors have skillfully brought together unique, quality pieces at fair and affordable prices. David, one of the owners, was very friendly and extremely helpful as he shared his knowledge of the pieces that interested me. He was a real pleasure to talk to.
When you visit, make sure to check out The Clapping Monkey House of Coffee at the back of the mall. They brew up a variety of hot and cold coffee and tea concoctions that are sure to please. Plus it's a comfy place to rest and recuperate before continuing your shopping spree.
Wild Things is now a "definite stop" for all my trips. See you all again...
