It is my pleasure to write this FIVE STAR rating relating to my outstanding visit today, to the Fruitland Park Pack and Ship location on Dixie Avenue, in Fruitland Park.

I had an eBay return to make and some confusing computerized instructions which I downloaded to tell me what to do. I'm accustomed to shipping things, (having spent over 20 years in the military, and then in business), and many experiences shipping and receiving things locally and abroad for my personal and business needs. I try to avoid the computerized corporate confusion that seems to surround us these days. What a good feeling it was to learn about this place.

At first glance, it seems simple to just send something off, but there are lots of ways to get it wrong. There's nothing worse than missing a deadline by have something delayed by a wrong choice at the Post Office, (those people are supposed to work for us), or some Corporate shipping office. I've experienced the hassle of a broken item, poor choice in labeling, wrong box, wrong size, wrong packing, wrong company, wrong shipping option, insurance issues...(not to mention customs, and other restrictions). It's true that computers have sped things up, but there is a very practical side to getting a box shipped, and that has never changed.

One thing I've learned over the years, is that with FedEX, UPS, USPS, and all of the independent shipping companies, there are many, many more pitfalls and loopholes than you could ever imagined. I know, because I've learned the hard way. Reading the set of eBay instructions, with a simple return in the same box the item came in, are there mistakes you can make? Yes, there are. There are as many ways to get it wrong as to get it right.

So, all I really wanted today, was peace of mind. Drive up to a place with this box. Hand it to someone at counter who understands the drill, hand over the instructions, get a receipt, and leave knowing it was completely handled, professionally, by someone who knows exactly what to do. That's what I got today. Peace of mind.

I found this place by reading reviews. I always ignore reviews that are clearly written by whiners and trouble-makers. I pay attention to the reviews written by people like myself who understand that we live in a complex world, but that there are people who understand how to simplify it for us. People who are looking for competent, well-intentioned business owners. When I find a place that is truly extraordinary, I write a review about it.

As soon as I walked into Fruitland Park Pack and Ship today, I knew that I had come to the right place. Looking around, it's exactly what a shipping office should look like. Work tables, great supply of boxes, packing materials, tape.

The owner was clearly busy, but absolutely attentive to me as a customer from the moment I came in. Highly professional, personal, very experienced (many years and hundreds of parcelss through eBay alone) - this is exactly what I was looking for. Good listener, expert communicator - a very sharp guy who has built a company around the idea of shipping and receiving items for you, beginning with your cardboard box, and moving it though this vast computerized network of trucks and cargo planes, so that it can reach someone else safely and efficiently.

Even with all of the the other choices out there, with the shopping mall style corporate-looking offices available, Fruitland Park Pack and Ship is the one to choose. Even if it's an extra few minute drive, it's worth it. Plenty of parking and absolutely the best service you can get.

I think it's important, in this complicated world of ours, to highlight the businesses available to us, with services we need but which are hard to find. Beneath the Corporate world, there are still tremendously valuable small businesses that are a pleasure to work with, and which make our lives better.

We needed to drop off a package for FedEx shipping. This package was not something that could be easily dropped off so we looked on the FedEx website for a FedEx Authorized Ship Center. There were several in our area, but this was the closest. Because of the location, we had never seen it before but we were glad to have found it. Our return shipment was a warranty issue but we were under the impression that we had to pay for shipping.
