We have lived here at Camden/Uptown Fullerton for two years while I was going to graduate school and this is the worst complex and management we have ever experienced. I have finally reached my boiling point and thought is was only fair to share our experience so people avoid moving to this dreadful place. I am going to briefly explain our experience from the time we moved in until this point where I feel it necessary to write a review. At first glance you would think this place is visitor friendly with the amount of guest parking that is available. You soon learn that many of the residents do not purchase a car port or garage and by 6:00 pm all guest parking is full while a majority of the car-ports (which you cannot park in without getting towed) sit empty. You are excited about the gym until you learn that once there are three people in there it becomes uncomfortable. You want to use the pool or hot tub and when you arrive it looks like it is rarely cleaned. Ok, so what. Its a lower scale apartment complex, no big deal.
Then Uptown Fullerton purchased the complex. They quickly raised our rent and soon after they started their remodel. Now, I completely understand they have to do what they have to do. But we have since constantly lost amenities that we pay for without any compensation, and have to deal with constant noise (banging on walls and ceiling) as they work, and apparently as of today they do work on weekends now so we never get a break. The quality of the upgrades they are doing is just a joke. Attached is a photo of our newly painted door that they completed while we were home showing that they didn't even bother to try and paint the whole door. We lost our washer and dryer for over two weeks while they were replaced with new ones that don't work as well as the previous. We lost our garage, that we pay extra for and were not offered a different place to park, for three days while they replaced garage doors. And worst of all is that for many months now we loose our water or have no water about once a week while they do upgrades to other units (You think I'm kidding, attached is a picture of the notifications we have received just this week). A day a week without water is ridiculous, especially without compensation. Just the other day they never turned our water back on so we had to spend 26 minutes tracking down management before they left for the day. Which brings me to the most important part. Once you sign a lease here the management doesn't care about you. They are rude and disrespectful. They never first address or apologies for the issue but rather make excuses in a rude tone. They didn't want to believe us that we had signed our paper work with them three separate times, when working with the same person cause they kept messing up the lease. When we had a complaint during the garage and laundry room period the manager acted like it was no big deal and said if I wanted to could write a letter to the owners explaining our concerns. What is the managers job if I have to address my complaints and issues to the owners? And during our most recent water issue, for almost a half hour we called and tried to find someone in the office to help us, knowing if we didn't catch them by six they would leave for the day. When we did find the "pleasant" person from the office we explained our issue and the first thing she said to us was a rude comment there was no way they were out of the office for a half hour (which is why I stated 26 minute above... my bad). Since we have lost hot water three times in new weeks, and when you call all they say is there was an emergency. Now maybe there were three emergencies in two weeks, but its gets really hard to believe anything they say when they speak to you the way that they do. Just save yourself the headache and avoid this place. If you don't want to believe this review just do a nice stroll of the complex and see for yourself.
Edit: After writing this I read through some of the reviews and take caution. Some five star reviews are from people who use...
Read moreMy apartment was not properly cleaned when I first moved in. My first night here was spent cleaning and scrubbing someone else's poop out of the toilet. Laundry rooms are so filthy I refuse to do my laundry here. Dumpsters are always overflowing. Since we moved in the outlets in the bathroom have not worked. I've reported this multiple times and nothing gets done. The dishwasher works one day and not the next. Hot water went out, called maintenance multiple times and nothing gets done. The office never seems to answer phone calls. I was told there was ample parking... but the majority of people don't seem to use their carport so there's never any free for all parking. I signed the lease because I liked that the apartment was just renovated and modern however the customer service experience has been sub-par. I was excited to be here but it's been nothing but disappointments. The staff just does not care.
Edit: To add to this, my bathroom constantly smells like SEWER. I keep my apartment immaculate so at first I was confused and would just clean my bathroom from top to bottom and light a candle. When it persisted I realized it was coming from the sink in the bathroom. I called the leasing office and they sent someone to check it out 3 days later and the person confirmed other tenants are experiencing the same thing. He said they think it's the new toilets they installed that are not flushing properly. And as mentioned by other tenants: The 5 star reviews are 100 percent biased. Those people work at the complex.
Edit Part 2: 8/30/2017 - My bathroom smells like sewer SO BAD it's to the point I cannot be in there without GAGGING. Absolutely disgusted at the fact that I cannot even use the restroom in my own apartment! On top of that I'm starting to wonder what kind of health concerns if any come with the constant daily smelling of sewer??! I'll be calling the office AGAIN about this tomorrow and will update after.
To note on top of not answering calls, they dont respond to emails in a timely manner. My husband emailed the complex about the parking situation about 3 days ago and as expected has yet to hear from them. This is the least of my problems with this place given the sewer smell in the bathroom but to prove a point they are so disorganized they can't even accept more money from people like my husband and I who are basically begging they let us give then $100 more a month for an Additional parking spot on top if the already high rent we pay.
My honest recommendation for anyone looking into this place is GO ELSEWHERE. I wish I could go back in time and actually listen to the reviews that were on here before I moved in. I had just hoped that because they were changing owners it wouldn't be the case. Truth is although in the long run this place might get better.. right now the new owners have a lot of dirt to clean.
I've been Extremely understanding and withheld from posting reciews because I knew what I was getting myself into but when even a simple request like having the stairs on our building swept because the construction workers working on the apartment across from us left a lot of dirt on them and they were slippery (major hazard) can't be met, it's a red flag for the incompetence of the staff and especially...
Read moreLong-time resident and have only seen improvement in my time here. They have a team (yes, MULTIPLE people not just one guy like many other apartment communities) of maintenance pros that are here every single day maintaining the grounds and fixing most problems SAME DAY. There have been times where they were over within minutes of me reporting a problem. I've only ever seen a bug once and they sent exterminators within 2 days. That was years ago and I haven't seen another bug since, but they do have exterminators over regularly spraying the outside of the buildings to prevent any bugs from coming in. Another time there was a water problem in my building so they immediately gave me the keys and let me use an empty apartment for whatever I needed until my water was back on. If there's something slowing down your day that they can fix, they do it. They literally go above and beyond what I've ever had other apartments do for me.
Is it pricy? Yes, but if you want a safe, clean, and maintained apartment you definitely get more than what you pay for. The only problem I've ever ran into was parking because of other residents storing cars, but they've been enforcing parking rules again so that's no longer an issue. Management is on top of everything here no matter how big or small the issue is. They even have an on-site after-hours emergency maintenance tech. You're taken care of here.
Perfect for individuals, families (there's an entire park just for the apartment complex), workers, and students (it's a super quiet and peaceful environment). It's a place you can be proud to bring...
