Went here with my parents on Tuesday June 11th 2024 as part of our long beach vacation. We stopped by historic smithville to browse the shops, and possibly purchase something. After being in the other candy stores and chocolate shops that are in the grounds, i was surprised that none of them had the harry Potter candy--- well look no more! There was plenty of Harry Potter candy in here! From chocolate frogs to gringotts coin candy, to chocolate wands, to butterbeer candy, to bertie botts every flavor beans, to the slugs. They also have other chocolates, including fresh ones in a chocolate covered pretzel, and other chocolate covered things. And more candy! I decided to get the jelly slugs, as it was hot out and didn't want the chocolate frog even though i collect the cards that come in it. Paid with cash, and went on my merry way. ate the slugs later in the car as a snack!

Disclaimer: from someone with a sweet tooth. Awesome vintage-y sweets emporium. Willy Wonka has nothing on this store. Many unique fudge flavors and chocolate covered treats and other candies.

My husband and I went into the store to buy some candy. He had picked up some chocolate covered pretzels and box of Bazooka gum. While walking past the counter there was a box of mixed chocolates and a stack of napkins. My husband thought they were samples so he took one, I then proceeded to also take a treat. Unfortunately it was not a sample. A young girl came over and took the box explaining it was an order she was working on. Yikes. She said she should not have left it there it should have been put behind the counter. We insisted right away we would purchase the box. We felt terrible. Then an older woman came over and made us feel worse “never in all my years as manager has anyone EVER taken a piece of candy within asking first”. She went on and on. To be honest if she was the first to scold me I would have never paid, she was unkind, unable to relate to how this could have happened and had a unfavorable tone in her voice. The younger girl was pleasant and understanding. Thank you to her, she handled the situation, without making a big deal and humiliating us. We apologized again. As the old woman handed me our bag she said you will surely enjoy the candy, to which I replied, we...

Would have given this place 5 stars based on food quality & taste. Unfortunately, the young woman working the counter on Saturday night was extremely rude. We walked into the shop around 5. She looked the door after we came in. Other customers went to walk out the door, she rudely said she locked the door because she’s been trying to leave and they would have to wait until she was finished what she was doing for her to open it. She continued to loudly talk about them saying it so unbelievable how people try to continually open the locked door as if they were going to break it down and tell us about how all she wants to do is leave. First time here and that definitely left a bad taste in our mouths - so much so that it was the topic of our...
